Advisory.Board Meeting Minutes
Friday, May 27, 2011
:Aubum City Hall Annex Room #3 - 3:00 pm
I. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order by Trudy Gintherat 3:00 pm. Advisory Board

Members present: Trutly Ginther, Maggie Greenslit, Paul Mallary, Mark Wayne,
Christian McLendon. City Staff/Council present Market Manage�Joanne
Macnab, Parks Secretary Julie Mehl.
IL Minutes
Paul Mallary moved to approve April minutes, Mark Wayne seconded.
III. MarKet Manager Report—Joanne Macnab
A. Sound T�ansit is in process of securing 11 electrical stands by June 12.
Water ha§ been tumed on and checked. Restroom maintenance will be up and
running for market dates.
B. Clean Sweep-40 volunteers worked a clean sweep project at Aubum
Station Plaza weeding and`applying beauty bark.
C. Received $250 sponsorship from State Farm Insurance in Aubum. Submitted
a $2000.00 grant repuest to the City of Aubum.
D. Full page ad in today'sAubum Reporter(May,27) promoting market and
listing 2011 special gvents. Anofher ad will run prior 40 opening day. One minute
� promo is currentlyairing on channel 21 every twenty minutes and will run
throughout the marke4 season.
E. May 19'" I spoke at the Longhom Bar 8�Grill foc the Kiwanis Club and
encouraged them to volunteer. They will be participating in opening day and will
be bringing their Cowboy:Band. May 2151 I was.a judge for the"off leash" pet
contest af Petpalooza. I wore my AIFM t-shirt and severafjudges
announcements were made which advertised the market.
F. Diane Sarr, graphic designCllustration teacher at Aubum High School asked
that we use sqnned copies of s4udeMs art for opening day so original art doesn't
get damaged. Art shbuld be completed by May 31�'and students name and
numbers wiil be printed on artwork: We should have 16 40 18 entries
G. Bannec update-fence line banners are being instailed throughout Aubum
anii we now have a banner hanging from the north side of 4he Auburn rail bridge
where i4 will remain until June:13. Then it will be placed on the south side of the
bridge from Juijr 5'"—July 25"'and then placed back on the north side from
August 15`"—September26"'. The finro sided banner is on Main St until June 13,
then will be put up again July 5`" through September 26"'. The new 38 x 6
banner is in place, the letters that were 17" high on our originai banner were
increased to 30". This should make our website address visible from Hwy 18.
H. Vendor status—We have 36 vendors signed up, 15 farmers, 6 processed
food, 5 flower; 3 prepared food, and 7 craft.

U. Comespondence/Public Input
A. Jim Wilson of Auburn Wine &Caviar wants to have a winelasting every
Sunday (tastirig, not selling.) He has offered to get permits and fencing.
Christian added that we may need to get permission from Sound Transit, they
may have.a restridion. it takes 30=45 days to get a.liquor permit. Maggie
recommends the booth be far away from tfie railroad tracks for security purposes
and ID checks. Trudy adds we should accept only if he has all his ducks in a
row.

A. Budget—Joanne reports our remaining funds are at $19,000.00.
B: Juiy Chamber of Commerce Partnership luncheon -AIFM donated $350 for
sponsorship and will qrovide centerpieces for twelve tables. It will be h"eld in the
Emerald Room at Emerald Downs and our sponsorship will be on the reader
board. The Iuncheon is July 18 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. Christian asked if
vendors could donate, also suggested we put together a market bag with a t-
sn�rt.
VIII. Board Recommendations/input
A. Ronnie asked for dates of the 2012 season, they are June 10 through
September 23.
B. Christian has a fiend, Jeff Wright a,longtime ICON employee who has
offered 30 tons of topsoil and will load for folk§ on a market Sunday. Christian
said we could take food bank donations for payment; Maggie suggested it be
towards the end of the marketseason. Truciy added maytie ifwe did it on the
last market 3unday it would ensure a good tumout of both vendors and
customers.
C. The next AIFM tioard meeting will be held October 215�,2011.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:35 pm.
