Construction is anticipated to start in February 2012 and finish in mid -2013. CCIY + AGENDA BILL APPROVAL FORM WASHINGTON Agenda Subject: Date: Resolution No. 4776 November 18, 2011 Department: Attachments: Budget Impact: Public Works Resolution No. 4776 $0 Administrative Recommendation: Public Works Committee recommend that City Council introduces and adopts Resolution No. 4776 Background Summary: Resolution No. 4776 authorizes the Mayor to accept the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board grant for $3,000,000 for the M Street SE Underpass project and authorized the Mayor to execute any necessary agreements required by the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board for the Project, expending up to the total amount of the grant of $3,000,000. Although the City does not yet have the formal award notification and funding agreement, the Transportation Improvement Board voted to award the grant to the City at its meeing on November 18, 2011. This grant completes the M Street SE Underpass project funding package. WHEREAS, the City desires to improve the safety, capacity, and efficiency of the crossing of M Street SE and the BNSF Stampede Pass Railway; and WHEREAS, lowering M Street SE below the tracks and constructing a railroad bridge over the tracks will improve the safety, capacity, and efficiency of M Street SE at the crossing; and WHEREAS, the City received a grant in the amount of $3,000,000 from the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board (TIB) to assist in the construction of the M Street SE Underpass; WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City to use Transportation Improvement Board grant monies to finance capital improvements to the transportation system. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, WASHINGTON, HEREBY RESOLVES as follows: Section 1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to accept the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board grant for $3,000,000 for the M Street SE Underpass project. In addition, the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute any necessary ----------------------------- Resolution No. 4776 November 18, 2011 Page 1 agreements required by the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board for the Project, and to expend up to the total amount of the grant of $3,000,000 in accordance with the City's budget and the grant agreement. Section 2. That the Mayor is authorized to implement such other administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry out the directives of this legislation. Section 3.
