Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 2:03 pm by Bryce Landrud. Those board members
attending in addition to Mr. Landrud were Maggie Greenslit, Lonnie Sundal, Jan Speer and Len
Elliott. Also present at the meeting were Parks Maintenance Manager Mike Miller, Parks
Horticulturist Kirk Hadley and Parks Secretary Julie Mehl.
Minutes
October minutes were reviewed and approved.
III. Correspondence /Public Input
A. Len Elliott asked if a permit was required to cut down a tree on private property. Bryce and
Kirk answered no.
B. Jan Speer commented that the off leash area is a hit.
IV. Old Business
A. Kirk Hadley read an article a few weeks ago in the Tacoma News Tribune regarding tree
care, he recommended the board go to the TNT website to review.
B. 91" street planting will take place at 9:00 am, Saturday, November 19. 15 trees will be
planted. 100 Kwanzan Cherry Trees will be planted the same day throughout Les Gove
Park.
C. Significant tree — Len suggested a deciduous tree on 2nd & N St NE. Kirk and Bryce will take
a look and contact the owner.
D. Bryce recommended two articles be written, one on garden preparations for winter and the
other on how to respond after a heavy storm.

V. New Business
A. The board reviewed the 2011 work plan timeline and recommended that during the spring,
planting of the ArboC Day ti�ee, we make sure to tomment on the fact thaffall is the
optimum season to plant trees &shrubs. .
VI. Board Recommendations/Input.
A. Bryce recommended the?ree Board have a booth at the 4"' of)uly festival in 2012. We
could pass out brochures,;.lieve a game to attract folks. Kirk has 1,000 bookmarks for give-
aways. Perhaps the Garden Club rnuld participate as well.
VII. Departrnent Report
A. Tree �ty USA application has been completed.
B. The exercise equipment recentiy installed at Les,Gove Park was donated by agroup of local
moms who raised the funds for the equipment. The Parks Department supplied the
concrete.
C. �II be remoying Poplar trees along the east fence line along the King County Housing on M
streefand aithe Maintenance &Operations faaliry.
D. Mike Miller recommended 'information be printed in the Recreation Guide regarding tree
care, Maggie added neighborhood tree grant information could be included:
