Call To Order, Introductions, Approval of Minutes President Judi Roland The meeting was called to order at 1:30. Mike Weibel was introduced and welcomed. He joins the board for the 2012 -2014 term. He is an elementary school building principal encouraged to serve on the WRVHS board by past - president, Ronnie Beyersdorf. Moved by Cam Cutler and seconded by Mark Thomason, the November 2011 minutes were approved as written. Board President Report President Roland Review of 2011— President Roland expressed pleasure with her opportunity to serve the museum. Of particular meaning to her, she enjoyed her role in chairing the fund drive which led to the development and opening of the Mary Olson Farm. In addition, she noted the 'Dead' exhibit as a highlight during her term of service. Gratitude and kudos were extended to the committees whose financially sound efforts resulted in this successful year in spite of the current challenging economic climate. III. Committees A. Finance Committee Treasurer Ronnie Beyersdorf Ronnie, who missed our meeting last month because he was off risking his fortune in Nevada, encouraged the board to pat itself on the back for the income revenue this year has exceeded the established budget. Income received for the remainder of the year is targeted for the Mary Olson Farm, financing items not covered by grants. Patricia Cosgrove reviewed O.P.M. (Other People's Money) mentioning the 4Culture Grant as well as a potential art grant related to criminal Harry Tracy and the Mary Olson Farm hostage incident. B. Collections Management Committee Hillary Pittenger Hillary, who is now in her 6th year of service to the WRVM, reviewed collection highlights from the past year including discussion of the pony cart dated from around the 1890's which will be placed at the Mary Olson Farm. In this interesting presentation Hillary shared select collection items accepted this year and provided contextual information related to each item. C. PR Committee Tom Campbell A meeting is planned between former Museum of Glass employee, Julie Pisto, whose responsibilities included public relations, and Patricia Cosgrove to discuss public relations strategies for the WRVM. D. Education and Events Committee Upcoming exhibit, 'Best Friends', is sponsored anonymously, by Mel Sinex, a true best friend of the WRVM, displaying antique images of animals and their people partnered with poetry. This exhibit occurs APPROVED 2/1/12 January 11th through April 15th allowing for a Valentine based poetry workshop and sentimental pet time. Please attend the opening on January 10th. In planning for next summer is an exhibit entitled 'Stills in the Hills'. E. Halloween Costume Ball Committee Thanks is extended for the outstanding success of fundraiser noting the event had fewer attendees yet greater revenue. Bravo! IV. Honoring Retiring Board Members Patricia Cosgrove reviewed the gifts of service provided by each of the retiring board members expressing appreciation for their specific contributions toward the advancement of purpose of the museum. A framed archival photo from the museum's collection, selected to represent the interests of the individual retirees, was presented with gratitude to each. Thank you Ronnie Beyersdorf, Tom Campbell, Gator Chamberlain (in absence), and Judy Roland. V. 2012 Elections* & Appointments President Roland Board nominees for terms to expire 12/2014 included Rhonda Larsen, Mike Weibel, & Gerry Honeysett. Acceptance of proposed members was approved unanimously. Board Appointments, approved by Mayor Lewis and the Auburn City Council & therefore do not require approval by the WRVHS board members, are Kelly Gordon & Joan Mason. The officers nominated for the 2012 term were: President Megan Evans, Vice - President Pat Cavanaugh, Treasurer Jamie Bothell & Secretary Julie Herren. This docket of officers was approved unanimously and, subsequently, the gavel was passed from President Roland to President Elect Megan Evans. VI.
