Jan Speer suggested the board assemble a pamphlet of recommendations regarding tree care /
tree loss in the aftermath of the storm. The information could include advice for injured tree
careJpruning, fertilization, wound dressing and staking. Julie will check with Multimedia to see
what the possibilites are:
Lonnie asked'where we are regarding post storm clean up, Mike responded about,50%asthe
city only has one wood chipper. Largerjobs are complete and are now cleaning up srrialler
branches &debris. The wood-chips are loqted at Geme Farm, Brannan, Les Gove and
Roegner Parks and are available for anyone to take.

amount for a levy process. Mike is hoping to tie a tree repiacement project as parf of a Clean
Sweep Project this spring. Kirk added that FEMA may reimliurse for Gme, materials and
equipment used for storm clean up. The King County total expenses would have to Feach 6.1
miliion in order to receive FEMA funds.

has an inventory.

The code covers landscape location, width, street black marks, atterripting to seve significant
trees, exceptions, safety hazards or disease,. Outlines locations necessary to landscape and
ongoing maintenance, permit guidelines, enforcement regarding excessive prunin9 and topping
being prohibited.

The Lakeland HOA has contacted the city asking if we could attend a question &answer session
this spring regarding post storm issues. ]amie and Stuart have received a lot of calls egarding
lost trees in developments where tree planting was required. Mike Miller will try tn get an
Arborist to attend, Bryce has volunteered to attend. They would like ttie ses§ion to be held in
April, Mike will agree and tie it into Arbor Day festivities.
VI. Board Recommendations/Input
VII. DepartmentReport
R street trees—According to Kirk, only four trees may surviye. At full maturity the trees-will be
too large for the 18"wide strip they are planted on. May need to work with the Planning
Department; perhaps planting shrubs in place of the trees. Perhaps this could be another Clean
Sweep project.
VIII. Adjournment
There being no further business, the meeting was adjoumed at 3;02 pm.
Approved this day of ` 2012.
