CALL TO ORDER The Human Services Committee Meeting was called to order on Monday, October 24,2011 at3:00 p.m. at One Main Street, Aubum,WA. Committee Members oresent: Chuck Booth, Barbara Derda,Bette Van Gasken,Tony Ladner, Daryl Thompson and JoAnne Walters Committee Members not bresent: Suzanne Limric, Michael Harbin and Virginia Lloyd-Baron (excused) Staff oresent: Community Services Manager Michael Hursh and Proj.Assistant Kirsten Reynolds II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES • Review of September 26,2011 minutes o Member Booth motioned to accept the September 26, 2011 minutes; Member Ladner seconded the motion. All Committee Members were in favor of adopting the minutes as submitted. ■ The September 26, 2011 minutes were approved. III. AGENDA • Annual Action Plan -Community Services Manager Michael Hursh reviewed the 2012Annual Action Plan with the Committee. The Plan is scheduled for a public hearing and review by Auburn City Council on November 7, 201 L The City's Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding had a 16% reduction, resulting in the total annuaf f�nding of $418,000. Agency reduction decisions were made by following the City of Aubum's Consolidated Plan; as a resuk in reduced funding, Multi-Service Center's portion was reduced from $10,000 to $5,300. CDBG funds will be allocated towards administration, housing repair, economic development, youth outreach and gang prevention programs. It remains an important goal of the City of Auburn to fund human services providers who participate in the design, development and operation of a One-Stop Center. Mr: Hursh also explained the 2011 Action P�an is being amended to reprogram CDBG funds for projects consistent with federal regulation; objectives and policies of the Aubum Consolidated Plan. Planned projects include construction of Terry Home II($50K) and rehabilitation of a City-owned transitional house ($10K). • Summer Program at Olympic Middle School—The presenter was postponed to the ne�committee meeting. Mr. Hursh explained in brief the program was set up in response to the community shootings in efforts to keep middle school aged kids occupied for the summer: • Agency Visits - Committee members have been doing and continue to do funded agency visits; all agency materials collected from site visits should be given to staff, presentations will be given at a later date, once all the identified agencies have been visited. Committee Team Leads are to let staff know what agencies they have visited to date. IV. ADDITIONAL TOPICS-Discussion took place regarding several topics in the community. V. NEXT MEETING•Tfie next meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 28, 2071. VI.
