HomeMy WebLinkAboutItems Submitted at the Meeting f •..:. ,. � The measurements/size of the vehicles parking along G Street SE (about which the complaints were received at last weeks City Council Meeting) are as follows: The greatest width of the vehicles is 96 inches (8 feet) The overall length is 288 inches (24 feet). That length includes the rear step of the vehicle which is approximately 8 inches. The box height is 137 inches (11 feet 5 inches) . The height of the box itself is 102 inches (8 foot 6 inches). The box is 96 inches wide (8 feet) and 192 inches (16 feet) long. The DOL GVWR is 14,000 pounds. CURRENT CODE SECTIONS 10:36.190 Commercial vehicles and large vehicles. A. Except as provided for in this section, no person shall park any vehicle with a grbss vehicle weight rating of 16,000 pounds or more, as indicated in the records of the Washington State Department of Motor Vehicles for the`vehicle, on any street, alley or pu6lic right-bf-way in the city. B. Parking vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of 16,000 pounds or more, as indicated on the vehicle or as indicated in the records of the Washington State Department of Motor Vehicles, is permitted at the following locations: 1. D Street NVV both sides, between 44th Stre.et NW and S 277th, where practical; 2. 44th Street NW south side, west of D Street NW and east of the Union Pao�c RR,rigM-of-way; 3. E Street NE west side, between 23rd Street NE and 26th Street NE; 4. Lund Road SW east side, W. Main Street to end. C. Commercial vehicles may be stopped or parked, in other safe locations while in the process of actively loading, unloading or providing'services to residences or businesses in the immediate vicinity of where the vehicle is parked; provided, that the free flow of traffic is unobstrucfed. D. The penalty forparking in violation of this section shall be a fine of $250.00 per violation, in addition to other cos4s and assessments provided by law. A violation of this section _. _ shall be considered a parking'ir�fraction and shall be processed in accordance with the state statutes, court rules and city ordinances regarding parking infractions. Each calerttlar day during which a violation occurs shall constitute a separate infraction, and each instance when a commercial vehicle parks at a location in violation of this section shall be a separate violation. E. The provisions of this.section do not apply to recreational vehicles as regulated by ACC 10:36.191. F. This section does not permit or authorize anyone to park any vehicle weighing more than 16,000 pounds on any street within the city that does not have adequate space for parking or where parking is otherwise prohibited. No person shall park any recreational vehicle on any street, alley or public rigM-of- way in any residential neighborhood in the city for more than 24 hours. B. The penalty for parking in violation of this section shall be a fine of $250.00 per violation, in addition to other costs and assessments providedlby law.A violation of this section shall be considered a parking infraction and shall be processed in accordance with the state Page 1 r � ~� 1 statutes, court rules and city ordinances regarding parking ir�fradions. Each calendarday during which a violation occurs shall constitute a separate infraction, and each instance when a recreational vehicle or trailer parks at a location in violation of this section shall be a separate violation. C. This section does not pertnit or authorize anyone to park any recreational vehicle on any street within the city that does not have adequate space for parking or where parking is otherwise prohibited. FORMER CODE SECTION 10.36.190 No Oversize or Commercial Vehicles on Residential or Non�rterial Streets. A. No person shall park any vehicle which is more than eighty (80) inches in width, other than a recreational vehicle as defined herein, or any commercial vehicle larger than a one ton pick-up on any street, aliey or public right-of-way in any residential neighborhood in the City. For the purposes hereof, a residential neighborhood shall mean an area where the majori;y of property in the vicinity is used for residential purposes and/or is zoned for residential uses; Provided that it shall be a defense to a violation_ of this section that the vehicle was parked directly adjacent to and on the same side of the street as property on which a commercial business;other than a properiy permitted Home Occupation, is located. B. No person shall park any vehicle which is more than eighty (80) inches in.width, other than a recreational vehicle as defined herein, or any commercial Gehicle larger than a one ton pick-up on any street, alley or public right-of-way which is a non-arterial street within the City. For the purposes hereof, a non-arterial street shall include any street that is not designated in the Transportation Element of the City's Comprehensive Plan as a Principle Arterial, Minor Arterial, Non-residential Collector, Residential Collector, or Rural Collector. C. No person shall park any recrea4ional vehicle as defined herein on a public roadway or in the public right-of-way in the City for no more than 24 hours. For the purposes hereof, "Recreational vehicle" means a vehic.ulae type unit primarily designed for recreational camping or travel use that has its own motide povirer or is mounted on or towed by another , vehicle. The units include travel trailers while attached and fully engaged to the towing vehicle, fifth-wheel trailers while attached and fully engaged to the towing vehicle, folding camping trailers while attached and fully engaged to the towing vehicle, Vuok campers, motor homes, and privately owned (non-commercial) utility trailers while attached and fully engaged to the towing vehicie. No traVel trailer, fifth-wheel trailer, folding camping trailer or utility trailer not attached and fully engaged to the towing vehicle may be parked on a public roadway or in the public rigM-of-way in the Gity at any time. D. It shall be a defense to a violation of this section that during the entire time that the vehicle was parked in the residential neighborhood the operator of the vehiole was actively engaged in making a delivery or providing services to residents in the immediate vicinity of where the vehicle was parked. E: The penalty for parking in violation of this section shall be a fine of $250 per ' violation, in addition to other costs and assessments provided by law. A violation of this section shatl be considered a parking irifraction and shall be processed in accordance with the state statutes court rules and city ordinances regarding parking infractions. Each calendar day during which a violation occurs shall constitute.a separate infraction, and each instance when an oversized or commercial vehicle parks at a location in violation of 4his section shall be a separate violation. F. It is further provided, however, that this Section does not permit or authorize anyone to park any oversized or commercial vehicle on any street within the Ciry that does not Page 2 tiy : have adequate space for parking or where parking is otherwise prohibited. Main Street to end. and Perhaps using both (a) gross vehicle weight rating of more than 10,000 pounds and (b) vehicle which is more than eighty (80) inches in width [except for recreationalvehicles]. pt could be that a vehicle width measurement different than - more than- eighty (80) inches would work as the vehicles causing the G Street neighborhood concems are probably about ninety (90) to ninety-five (95) inches wide.)
