II. . - .� !. ;,. ! y �.: ,__ • HUMAN SERVICES COMMITTEE MINUTES February 27;:2012 CALL TO ORDER The Human Services Committee Meeting was called to order on Monday, Febriiary 27, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at One Main Street, Aubum, WA. AssistaM Kirsten Rejmolds and Senior Center Supervisor Radine Lozier Guest(s) 8 Presenterfsl: Wesley Homes Gampus Administrator Scott Hulet, Wesley Homes Presiderrt/CEO Kevin Anderson and City of Aubum Councilmember John Halman AGENDA e Gommunity Services Updates. — Community Services Manager Michael Hursh reviewed and discussed the following topics with the Committee. o New Member Announcement — Executive Director of the Aubum Valley YMCA, Jason Berry, is a new voting member and agerScy representative. o Gang Intervention — City of Auburn is putting a strong emphasis on combating gang activity jointly with a variety of partners, including but not limited to, the Department ofJustice, South County Cities, the YMCA and Seahawks. Alive & Free is a non-profit that utilizes education and responds to communities as critical events happen; they are focused on doing intervention work with youth. o CDBG Funding — City of Aubum has been able to obtain a slightly higher rate of CDBG funding, despite cuts, due to pasYannexations. o Faith Community — Mayor Pete Lewis and Mr. Hursh have been meeting with 28 leaders in the faith communiry once every fourmoths, of which 22 showed up at the past meeting. o Summer Programming — This year's summer programs will be expanded to Cascade Middle $chool to target an older crowd. The overreaching goal is to get programming at all the Aubum Middle Schools. o Committee Structure — Further discussion for March, Committee Members will be identifying their interests and abilities to utilize within the Human Services Committee structure; ourrently there are 11 Committee Members. Mission: Ensure a consistent quality of life for aII Aubum residents. Wesley Homes — Wesley Homes Campus Administrator Scott Hulet and PresidenUCEO KeVin Anderson presented to the Committee the amenities offered at Lea Hill 1Nesley Homes. There was discussion around building a stronger sense of communify through awareness and partnerships. Their goal is to revolutionize senior living. e Agency Visits - Community Seryices Project Assistant Kirsten Reynolds reviewed: list of agencies visited and who was left to Visit. Committee members will be presenting on what agencies they visited and how the process can be better. Onoe reports a�e tlone on agencies visited, subcommittees will be reformed and agencies left for CommifEee visits reassigned. III. ADDITIONAL TOPICS _._ IV.
