Those board members attending in addition to Mr. Landrud were Jan Speer, Maggie Greenslit and Lonnie Sundal. Also present at the meeting were (guest) Parks Maintenance Manager Mike Miller, Environmental Planner Jamie Kelly, Parks Horticulturist Richard Valenti, and Parks Secretary Julie Mehl. Minutes The April & May minutes were reviewed and approved. III. Correspondence /Public Input Bryce asked the board if they would let Julie Mehl know if they can't attend a meeting, that way a decision can be made prior to meeting whether to cancel if no quorum. Bryce has been spreading the word about the Tree Board openings to local HOA's. Mike Miller suggested notifying Duanna Richards in Community Services. Tamie Bothell can send out notice as well. The stream /spawning area near Roegner park has been cleaned up. Jan reported it was cleaned up within a week of her request. Thanks go to Jamie Kelly & Tim Carlaw. Bryce mentioned having a presence at the Auburn International Farmer's Market on Sundays, he suggested we might have a banner for the times when we are manning a booth. Maggie said the cost would be around $100. Maggie suggested July 22nd, it's the Sunday where °Ciscoe" will be at the market. Lonnie will pick up some brochures from Julie. Bryce will talk with the DNR representative regarding grants the City could apply for, to combine with potential Eagle Scout projects. Mike Miller reports that the neighborhood planting trees from the past three years look great, AUBURN* MORE THAN YOU IMAGINED they are being taken care of by respective neighborhoods. Mike is hoping for more neighborhood planting projects in the future, hopefully on M street to correspond with the new M Street Underpass project. IV. Old Business V. New Business Bryce is in the process of drafting a checklist for the DNR website, a "From the Field" type of article with post storm information, business practices etc. Bryce suggested we could put the link on the City website, perhaps make a brochure. Significant Tree — Bryce reminded the board that it's time to start scouting for 2013. There is a Maple tree near the dance studio & Godfather's Pizza that is interesting. VI. Board Recommendations /Input VII. Department Report Richard Valenti reports that Parks Maintenance is geared into hedging, keeping things under control, weeding, watering, fertilizing. They are also focusing on balancing limbs and fertilizing the hanging baskets. VIII. Adjournment There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:37 pm.
