HomeMy WebLinkAbout2757 1 RESOLUTION NO 2 7 5 7 2 3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, KING COUNTY, WASHINGTON AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF AUBURN TO ENTER 4 INTO AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF SEATTLE TO 5 AUTHORIZE THE PACIFIC HOSPITAL PRESERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY (D/B/A PACIFIC MEDICAL CENTER AND CLINICS) TO 6 ESTABLISH A CLINIC IN AUBURN, PROVIDE OUTPATIENT CARE, OFFER A HEALTH MAINTENANCE ORGANIZATION AND PERFORM OTHER RELATED 7 ACTIVITIES 8 9 WHEREAS the City of Auburn is interested in the 10 availability of quality medical services for its residents and 11 those populations dependent upon the commerce of the Auburn 12 community for goods and services; and 13 14 WHEREAS the Pacific Hospital Preservation and Development 15 Authority (d/b/a Pacific Medical Center and Clinics) is 16 interested in placing a health care facility in Auburn; and 17 WHEREAS the Pacific Hospital Preservation and Development 18 Authority (d/b/a Pacific Medical Center and Clinics) is 19 20 interested in developing relationships within the medical 21 community enabling it to better serve its subscribers; and 22 WHEREAS the Pacific Hospital Preservation and Development 23 Authority (d/b/a Pacific Medical Center and Clinics) agrees 24 25 26 Resolution No 2757 July 5, 1996 Page I 1 that the delivery of such services will not result in any cost 2 for services or liability accruing to the City of Auburn; and 3 WHEREAS the Pacific Hospital Preservation and Development 4 5 Authority (d/b/a Pacific Medical Center and Clinics) is a 6 public corporation chartered within the City of Seattle; and 7 WHEREAS an interlocal agreement is required in order to 8 enable the Pacific Hospital Preservation and Development 9 Authority (d/b/a Pacific Medical Center and Clinics) to 10 11 provide services within the Auburn Community 12 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, 13 KING COUNTY, WASHINGTON IN A REGULAR MEETING DULY ASSEMBLED, 14 HEREWITH RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS 15 Section 1 . The Mayor and City Clerk of the City of 16 17 Auburn, Washington, are hereby authorized to execute an 18 Interlocal Agreement with the City of Seattle to authorize 19 Pacific Hospital Preservation and Development Authority (d/b/a 20 Pacific Medical Center and Clinics) to establish a medical 21 22 facility in Auburn and deliver medical services Said 23 Agreement is attached hereto, designated as Exhibit "A" and 24 incorporated by reference in this Resolution 25 26 Resolution No 2757 July 5, 1996 Page 2 1 Section 2 . And Seattle Municipal Code Chapter 3 110, may establish a healthcare clinic in Auburn, provide outpatient care, and perform other related activities, and, as appropriate thereto, exercise the powers conferred by RCW 35.21 755 et seq as now or hereafter amended, and by Seattle Municipal Code Chapter 3 110 Pacific Medical may relinquish the authority conferred by this agreement by giving the mayor of Auburn sixty (60) days written notice. The authority conferred by this agreement shall expire if Pacific Medical fails to exercise it within eighteen (18) months of the date of this agreement or having exercised the authority, Pacific Medical shall discontinue its operations there for a period of twelve (12) continuous months or more. This agreement only confers upon Pacific Medical permission to operate within Auburn contemplated by RCW 35.21 740. Activities of Pacific Medical within Auburn are subject to Auburn's ordinances. This agreement does not make Pacific Medical an agent of either municipality Neither municipality assumes any responsibility in any way for the debts or liabilities of Pacific Medical.
