3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, SUPPORTING THE REVISED PHASE ONE FINAL PLAN OF THE
4 REGIONAL TRANSIT AUTHORITY
5
6 WHEREAS, the City of Auburn serves as home to nearly
7 40, 000 residents and to such major employers and regional
8
destinations as the Boeing Company Fabrication Division,
9
SuperMall of the Great Northwest, Emerald Downs thoroughbred
10
11 racetrack, and the Muckleshoot Casino; and
12 WHEREAS, the Auburn City Council supports a balanced and
13 comprehensive transportation system for all who live in, work
14
in, or visit the City of Auburn and the Puget Sound region;
15
and
16
17 WHEREAS, the City of Auburn conducted a Commuter Rail
18 Station Siting Study which designated the City' s preferred
19 location for a commuter rail station and was adopted by the
20
City Council in Resolution No 2581 on December 19 , 1994 ; and
21
WHEREAS, the City of Auburn has been a long-time
22
23 supporter of commuter rail, as expressed through previous
24 financial commitments to studies related to commuter rail
25

1 through Auburn, as well as in Council Resolution No 2581

(December 19 , 1994) , Resolution No 2632 (April 18, 1995) , and

Resolution No 2735 (April 15, 1996) ; and

5 WHEREAS, the Auburn City Council provided input into the
6 revision of the draft phase one plan through Resolution No
7 2735 on April 15, 1996; and
8
WHEREAS, the Regional Transit Authority addressed a
9
number of the points expressed in Resolution No 2735 through
10
11 revisions to the draft phase one plan; and
12 WHEREAS, the revised phase one final plan represents a
13 significant effort to provide an equitable and balanced system
14
designed to offer transportation alternatives for citizens of
15
South King County and the entire Puget Sound region;
16
17 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
18 WASHINGTON, IN A REGULAR MEETING DULY ASSEMBLED, HEREWITH
19 RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS

Section 1. The City Council of the City of Auburn
21
supports the Regional Transit Authority' s Final Phase One Plan
22
23 as adopted by the Regional Transit Authority Board on May 31,
24 1996

Section 2 The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement

such administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry
3
out the directives of this legislation
