3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WASHINGTON, RELATING TO ITS INTENTION TO ANNEX CERTAIN
4 PROPERTY, LOCATED ON THE CITY' S SOUTHERN BOUNDARY, THAT IS
SOUTH OF AND ADJACENT TO THE KING/PIERCE COUNTY LINE

6 WHEREAS, the City of Auburn, Washington, has received
7
annexation No ANX0004-97 petitioning the City to annex
8
9 approximately 280 acres of land located on the City' s southern
10 boundary, south of and adjacent to the King/Pierce County
11 Line; and
12
WHEREAS, at the regular City Council meeting held
13
November 4 , 1996, the City Council authorized City staff to
14
15 prepare the necessary annexation petition stating that said
16 area, if annexed by the City of Auburn, will assume the pro
17 rata portion of the existing bonded indebtedness of the City
18
of Auburn; and
19
WHEREAS, on May 15 , 1997 the petition was received by the
20
21 City of Auburn, which petition was signed by the property
22 owners, representing 88 15% of the valuation of the property,
23 lying within the limits of the proposed area to be annexed,
24
according to the assessed valuation for general taxation; and

1 WHEREAS, on May 5, 1997 the Auburn City Council scheduled
2
a public hearing to be held on May 19, 1997 ; and
3
4 WHEREAS, on May 19, 1997, the City Council held a public
5 hearing at 7 30 p m in the Council Chambers of the Auburn
6 City Hall, at which time the City Council recommended approval
7
of said annexation and instructed that the notice of intention
8
be forwarded to the Pierce County Boundary Review Board
9
10 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN,
11 WASHINGTON, IN A REGULAR MEETING DULY ASSEMBLED, HEREWITH
12 RESOLVES THAT

,Section 1. The City of Auburn hereby requests the Pierce
14
County Boundary Review Board to approve the annexation of
15
16 approximately 280 acres of land located on the City' s southern
17 boundary, adjacent to and south of the King/Pierce County
18 line
19
Section 2 . The City Council finds that the annexation is
20
consistent with the City of Auburn' s goals and policies
21
22 related to annexations as enumerated in Chapter 13 of the
23 City' s Comprehensive Plan

1 Section 3 . The City Council further finds that the

annexation is consistent with the Comprehensive Land Use Plan
3
of the City for orderly and controlled growth, and
4
5 accomplishes the purposes and objectives specified in RCW
6 36 93 010 based on the facts herein
7
Section 4 . The Mayor is hereby authorized to implement
8
such administrative procedures as may be necessary to carry
9
10 out the directives of this legislation
