Minutes Wednesday, September 6, 2012 2:00 p.m. Conference Room Parks, Arts & Recreation Administration Building I Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 2•07 pm by Bryce Landrud Those board members attending m addition to Mr Landrud were Arnie Galli and Lonnie Sundal Also present at the meeting were Parks Maintenance Manager Mike Miller, and Parks Secretary Julie Mehl II Minutes The August minutes were reviewed but not approved as the board was not sure if there is a quorum Lonnie asked that the August minutes reflect her question of will the city pay for arborist services until we have a certified Horticulturist on staff III Correspondence/Public Input IV Old 8usiness V New Business VI. Board Recommendations/Input Bryce looked at the Locust trees at the Church of Jesus Christ and does not recommend as Heritage trees They are not considered desirable trees, one is decaying and they don't live long enough The English Walnut at 411 H St is a viable candidate for a Heritage Tree The Tulip tree at 620 H St has been over pruned, does not have a good shape. Bryce does not recommend for Heritage status AUBURN * MO[tE THAN YOU IMAGINED VII. Department Report Mike Miller reports the Parks Department has purchased a lake on the west hili of Auburn. It is a two acre lake located on two five acre parcels We hope to add some picnic tables, a walking trail and a gravel parking lot for around eight vehicles. Land development has begun at Lea Hill Park, the project should be complete by spring 2013 Features indude a ball field, barn style picnic shelter, playground eqwpment, skate board area with grind features, 3/a size soccer field, '/z court basketball, walking trail to GRCC and a bronze cow. Funding may go through for non-commissioned art piece of old tractor seats The Green River levee set back pro�ect at Brannan Park will begin in March and will reduce erosion The county will provide us with ten acres in exchange for property we are losing. The barrier removal project has moved beyond Brannan & Riverpoint, they are doing quite well and are using the sand as fll for another pro�ect The Rotary spray park has been turned off as of the end of the Labor Day week-end Richard will bring a list of trees for the neighborhood tree planting at the October meeting VIII.
