MINUTES
I. CALL TO ORDER
A. Roll Call
Chair Nancy Backus called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. in the
Council Conference Room at Auburn City Hall located at 25 West Main
Street in Auburn.
Members in attendance included Chair Nancy Backus, Vice Chair Rich
Wagner and Member Bill Peloza. Also in attendance were City Attorney
Dan Heid and Deputy City Clerk Shawn Campbell.
B. Announcements
There was no announcement.
C. Agenda Modifications
An updated version of Ordinance No. 6441 was provided to Council prior
to the meeting.
II. CONSENT AGENDA
A. December 3, 2012 Regular Meeting Minutes
Vice Chair Wagner moved and Member Peloza seconded to approve
the December 3, 2012 minutes.
Motion carried unanimously. 3-0
III. DISCUSSION ITEMS
A. Ordinance NO. 6441 (Heid)
An Ordinance of the City Council of the City of Auburn, Washington,
creating a new Chapter 2.07 of the Auburn City Code relating to the
Auburn Junior City Council
Vice-Chair Wagner questioned who will designate staff support for the
Junior City Council. Chair Backus stated Mayor Lewis will designate staff
support. She believes the Planning Department will be supporting the
Junior City Council. Chair Backus said the Junior City Council will have
nine (9) members instead of seven (7) so each middle and high school
within the district will have a representative on the committee. The Mayor
will confirm each member and the Deputy Mayor will be the Council
liaison.

The Committee approved revised language in sections 2.07.040
Membership regarding a diverse membership and 2.07.080 Sub-
Committee Structure regarding the Open Public Meetings act.
Vice Chair Wagner moved and Member Peloza seconded to approve
Ordinance No. 6441.
Motion carried unanimously. 3-0
B. Proposed dates for Committee of the Whole Meetings
Chair Backus stated in 2013 there are four months with a fifth Monday on
which Committee of the Whole meetings are held. The Committee
discussed options for additional dates for Committee of the Whole
meetings. Vice Chair Wagner proposed February 28, 2013. The
Committee agreed to cancel the December 30, 2013 Committee of the
Whole meeting. Committee of the Whole Meetings are scheduled for
February 28, April 29th, July 29th, and September 30th.
Chair Backus requested dates in March for a Council Workshop on
finance topics. The Committee discussed possible dates
and proposed March 22, 2013.
Chair Backus will confirm February 28, 2013 for an additional Council of
the Whole meeting and March 22, 2013 for a Council Workshop with the
Mayor and remaining Councilmembers.
IV. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 5:26 p.m.
