CALL TO ORDER The Human Services Committee Meeting was called to order at 3 00 p m on Monday, August 27, 2012 at One Main Street, Auburn, WA. Committee Members present: Barbara Derda, Bette Van Gasken, Chuck Booth, Lela Brugger and Tony Ladner Committee Members not present: Jason Berry, Suzanne Limric, JoAnne Walters, Daryl Thompson and Michael Harbin Staff present: Human Services Specialist Kirsten Reynolds II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES • Review of July 23, 2012 minutes o Member Derda motioned to accept the July 23, 2012 minutes, Member Van Gasken seconded the motion All Committee Members were in favor of adopting the minutes as submitted ■ The July 23, 2012 minutes were approved III. AGENDA • 2013-2014 Human Services Funding Applications Human Services Specialist Kirsten Reynolds reviewed the Human Services Committee's scoring sheets for all agency funding requests Discussion took place regarding the key funding priorities improve access to healthcare, reduce poverty, meet basic needs, provide services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, and increase services to abused and neglected children The Committee emphasized the importance in not having duplication of services under any one funding priority The conversation and review of scoring resulted in a preliminary recommendation of agency funding • Homelessness in Auburn Members of the Committee held discussion on the need to address adult and youth homelessness in the City of Auburn, the question was asked how the Committee, as individuals, could make a difference in the community regarding homelessness The Committee asked for to present at a future meeting to discuss this issue, they would like to brainstorm ideas for possible solutions how to best address homelessness in Auburn IV.
