CALL TO ORDER Chairman Roger Thordarson called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. in the Council Conference Room, located on the first floor of Auburn City Hall, 25 West Main Street, Auburn, Washington. Committee members present were: Jim Fletcher, Lonnie Tealer, and Michael Pratum. Also present during the meeting were: Director Dennis Dowdy, Traffic Engineer James Webb, Office Assistant Molly Hoisington and Brian Berend with the Auburn Area Chamber. II. CONSENT AGENDA A. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Committee approved the Transportation, Transit and Trails minutes for October 24, 2012. Minutes were approved by consensus. III. DISCUSSION AND INFORMATION A. WHEN WOULD IT BE POSSIBLE FOR ANOTHER TRY FOR A STREET BOND (CHAMBER) Brian Berend from the Chamber of Commerce joined today's meeting to discuss this item. Brian stated the Chamber is very supportive of the bond. The Chamber plans to bring a proposal to their executive board for approval at the beginning of 2013. Brian informed the Committee that the Chamber plans to have the necessary committee in place by January 2013. The Chamber feels by following this timeline it would provide the Chamber with adequate time for the filing deadline of May 2013 and to appear on the ballot in August 2013. The Chamber will be moving forward with this as a priority. B. DETERMINE THE NEED FOR PUBLIC MEETING TO EVALUATE REOPENING SE 314TH STREET (THORDARSON) Member Thordarson stated the road remains unopened at this time. This road was originally blocked off by the County prior to the City annexing this area. There may be a public meeting held in the future regarding opening this road. Member Thordarson suggested the City install traffic calming measures. C. PLANS FOR TRAIL EXTENSIONS WITH SAND BAGS GONE (DOWDY) Director Dowdy stated the sand bags have been removed. All trails that were blocked by sandbags have now been reopened. D. STATUS OF A-B CORRIDOR (DOWDY) The City has a settlement agreement with BNSF that has been approved. There is also a settlement agreement between the two private owners, Gates and Ampac. The City hopes everything will be approved in the month of December. The road will open as soon as the City receives permission from the UTC. Transportation, Transit, and Trails Committee November 28 2012 MINUTES V.
