A RESOyLUTION OF THE CITY OF AUBURN, KING COUNTY, WASHINGTON,
RELATING TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW CITY JAIL AND POLICE
BUILDING AhD PROVIDING f,OR. THE PLACING OF THE MATTER OF ,
WHETHER OR NOT THE SUM OF $1000000.00 SHOULD- BE RAISED BY
SPECIAL. TAX LEVY ON ALL PROPERTY IN THE CITY OF AUBURN,
WITH PAYMENT TO BE MADE BY GENERAL OELIGATIONS BONDS PAY-
ABLE IN 20 YEARS, OIL THE BALLOT AT THE REGULAR MUNICIPAL
ELECTION TO BE HELD 034 MARCH 8TH, 1955•
WHEREAS, the City of Auburn Police Deper tment and City of
Auburn Jail are now housed is the City Hall Building of the
City of Auburn, and the space therefor is inadequate for the
proper housing, care and humane treatment of inmates who are
placed in the Auburn City Jail from time to time, and the
Police Deportment quarters are not designed to meet the needs
of the Police Department for the most efficient handling of
prisoners end the public, and
WHEREAS, for the past several years the matter of whether
or not the City of Auburn should provide the necessary funds
for the construction of a new City building to house the City
Jail and the Police Department, has become one of great con-
oern to the members of the City Council, its Mayor, and certain
citizens of the City of Auburn, and
WHEREAS, the members of . the Council of the City of Auburn
have concluded that such a new building is needed for the City
of Auburn and should now be constructed, and that-the beat
a'
method for the City. of Auburn to finance construction of a now
building to house the , City ,,Jail and Police Department is by
placing the matter before all the bodies of the City of Auburn,
and that said matter should include a sum of $100,000.00 for
acquisition of a site and ,,for the construction of said building,
to be raised by ,,ganeral taxation, the entire sum to be paid by
general obligation .bonds payable in twenty (20) years. NOW,
THEREFORE,
IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED IN THE City of Auburn, that the City
Clerk of the City of Auburn, Washington, be and he is hereby
Instructed to certify the following proposition to the Ring

,County Auditor, attention: Superintendent of Elections;
with the request that the same be placed on the official
municipal ballot of the City of Auburn, King County, Wash-
ington, at the next regular city election to be hold on
March 8th, 1955, in the City of Auburn, to-wit:
"Shall the City of Auburn provide the sum of 0100,000.00
to be used for the acquisition of site and construction of a
new City building to house the City ,fail and the Police
Department, which sum of $100,000.00 'ahall be raised by a
a
special tax levy upon all property within the city limits
of the City of Auburn, and paid by general obligation bonds,
payable over a twenty (20) year period.
