Regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Auburn, held at 8:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers at the City Hall . The meeting was called to order by Mayor Denise. Councilmen present: Aaby, Kammeyer, Fitzsimmons, Towner and Prescott. Counciimen absent: Petersen and Stalder The minutes of the previous meeting held April 19, 1960, were approved as mailed. PUBLIC HEARING ' The Mayor declared the public hearing open on the annexation of the area of land west of the present city limits. Mr. Martin Daws asked if the annexation would effect the • tex s�ructure by zoning. The City Engineer said the area would stay as is, classified es egricultural . It was moved by Kammeyer and 2nd by Prescott that the public hearing be closed end the City Attorney be instructed to draw up the necessary ordinances. MOTION CARRIE BIDS None COMMITTEE REPORTS PURCHASING No report FIRE No report LICENSE Councilman Fitzsimmons reported for the license committee, ' saying that a dance license was issued for Friday night April 29th, but the dance was closed down by the License Committee and Police Department because the licensee did not comply with the City ordinance that requires that an officer be on duty. STREET No report WATER No report LIGHT Councilman Prescott asked Mr. Aspenwall of Puget Sound Po�er & Light Co. if the Street light in front of the Green Acre Rest home has been installed. Mr. Aspenaali stated that he has not received any letter of authorization from the City: The �ity Clerk said he has been on vacation and wi � l send the letter. ORDINANCE # 138A It was moved by Kammeyer and 2nd by Fitzsimmons that Ordinan e No. 1384 entitled, �AN Ordinance of the City of Auburn, Washingto , ' providing for the purchase of certain real estate for a water storage ta�k site and other municipai purposes°, be adopted with the following roll call vote being recorded, Aaby, yes; Kammeyer, yes; Fitzsimmons, yes; To�ner, yes; and Prescott, yes. The City Attorney stated that he has ordered the title insurance for this property and has not received the report as yet. He said the Council could pass this Ordinance without the Title Insurance because if the property owner doeen't furnish title insurance the city is not obligated to buy the property. St. S.E. to the RR tracks; and A St. S.W, from the alley at Brewers to 3rd St. S.W. He further stated that the : plans, specs, and bid sheeta are available at his office. This matter was referred to the- Street Committee for study. RENTON ELKS LODGE - A request was received from. the Renton Elks lodge requesting he City officials to ride in their. parade on June CI , 1.960. _ ' ' Thi's matter was referced to the incoming. Mayor. . . GO CART PROTEST Mr'. John McDavit of F440 22nd St. S.E. submitted a petition rotesting the go cart racing across. from the Hillside BowPing iley on Howard Road. .. � :, He steted their protests are based on property loss, traffic - roblem, noise and nuisance. The City Engineer :stated that the property aras zoned well vec a year before the track was built and .that the property is ones peoperiy for the �ace track. � Councitman Towner stated stated that the Street Committee es placed no perking signs on both sides of the Cnumclaw Highway nd 25 mph signs in front of the boaling a71ey and race track. Mrs. Howard Bothell suppor�dd the remarks of Mr. McDavit. Mr. Wadkins, owner of the race trsck, said he planned to put p a 8" Board fence. and that he could not controi the hiil ,parking. Mr: Howard Bothell of 1440 19th St. S.E, protested .the noise f the Go carts. He said also, that there are motorcycle' races t' the No Bar Ranch, He nequested if no action was taken tonight I hat the Police patrol 17th St. S.E. , M St. S:E. , Noward Road and. he Highway #410, during the go cart and motorcycle races. Police Chief Ludwig-said, that last Sunday thece were only wo officers on duty and they checked this area as often as they ould. He said the request of Mr. Bothells'would require a fuli i me off i cer. . ' � " Mr. Wadkins stated the races were from about 9:45 to� S P.M. . Mr. Lewis Hitchcock of 25th St. S.E. felt that the cact tnack as a benefit for the entire city as it was a recreation for ' the outh. ' This matter was referred to the License Committee for further tudy. Mr. Bothell asked if some action could be taken about stopping he motorcycle races at the.
