Regular meeting of the Ci,ty Council of the City of Auburn,
heJid at 8:00 P.M, in the Council Chambers at the City Hall .
The medting was �called to order by Mayor Shaughnessy
Councilmen Present: Aaby, Petersen, Kammeyer, Fit2simmons,
Sonnemann, Towner, Gaines
Councilmen Absent: �done
Minutes of the previous meeting held August I6, 1960, were
approved as mailed.

Bids were received for Street Oiling for L. I .D. � 138, Heisserm n
Fuel & Heating Co. , Inc. bidding. 32¢ unit price. (
l'here was a short recess for consideration of this bid.
It was moved,by Petersen and 2nd by Towner that the>Gity
accept the bid of Heisserman Fuel Co. for. street oi•1-ing L. I .D. # 138
at. a ,cost of .32¢ unit price, with the following rol 'I m call vote
being ,recorded: Aaby, yes; Petersen, yes; Kammeyer, no vote;
Fitzsimmons, yes; Sonnemann, yes; Towner, yes; Gaines, yes;
Bids were received from the following for supply:i�g the Water
Dept. with a backhoe and loader: Western Tractor and Equipment Co.
bidding $7,488.00 including .sales tax; Wayne Buck Sales, inc.
bidding $6,544.00 - 811 Ford Tractor and $7,230.00 1821 Ford
Tractor both bids do not include sales tax.
These bids were referred to the Water Committee.
Bide were received from the following for the West Hill

be awa�ded to Auburn Construction Co. ,

It aas moved by Kammeyer and 2nd by Towner that the bid
checka of the unsuccessful bidders be returned after the Gonsult-
ing Engineer has tabulated them, with the following 'roll call vote
being recorded: Aaby, yes; Petersen, yes; Kammeyer, yes;

between 3rd & Sth St. N.E. requesting additional street lighting.
This letter was referred to the Light Committee.

preliminary plat of 'Lyrtde Estates' . — —
Tliis preliminary plat was referred to the Planning Commission.
PETITIONS
The City Cierk read a petition from the Corporation• of the
, Cathol.ic Archbishop of Seatt,le to rezone from R-60 to Special
property use for church purposes.
' The City Clerk read another petition from Mr. & Mrs. Eugene
E. Engen to rezone from R-50 to Special property use to afiow
construction of an additional duplex in front of existing si:ngle
femily dweling.
� � The City Clerk read a petition from Glen Det�on to. rezone
- from R-G to C- I .
'fhese petitions were referred ta the Planning Commission,

The City Clerk read a progress report from R.E, wolff for
the East Hill Water System - Auburn Construction Co. contractor-
Total $20,717.06 less 15% retained $3, 107.56. payment due contract r
$17,609. 50.
The City Cierk read a �srogress report from R.E. Wolff for
Schedule "B°. Auburn Construction Co. conteactor. Payment due
Contractor $1 ,491 . 13.
It was moved by Kammeyer and 2nd by Petersen that the City
accept the recommendations of the Consulting Engineer and pay
Auburn Construction Co. the amounts specified.

The City Cierk read a progress report from R.E. Wolff ,for
Schedule "A" Argentieri Construction Co. contractor. Payment
due contractor $4,095. 13.
dt was moved by Kammeyer and 2nd by Aaby that Argentieri' -
Construction Co. be paid the recommended amount.

The City Clerk read a lette� from the Auburn Academy requesti g
that a 6 or 8 inch water line be extended across the Enumclaw
Hwy to tlie Auburn Academy property. •
l'his letter was referred to the Wnter Committee.
DR. WM. H. BRANDT
The City Clerk read a letter from Dr. Wm. H. Brandt, Health
' Officer., stating he' had inspected the 24 Flavors Ice Cream Busines
� i for a possible rat infestation.. There was no convincing evidence
_ of rats, but thece was. an unsanitary' condi•tion.
This letter: was referred to the Building Inspector.
' C.A. HEISSERMAN
The City Clerk read a letter from C.A. Heisserman stating the '
post office would like to establish walking mail delivery to
residence of R St. , north of Main: He therefore requested that
R St. be widened to it full width,

The Mayor stated the committee for the jail shoufd decide
before the budget is socepted, whether or not they-would ba able
to proceed with the 6uilding in order that mi.11ege shouhd be
designated therein.
WATER SUPT. REPORT
The Water Supt. stated that Auburn Construction Co. has laid
all the 10" pipe along the Enumclaw Hwy.
The 14" line on top of the hill from the pumping station to
the resevoir has aiso been Iaid.
STREE� SUPT. REPORT
The Street Supt. reported most of the seal eoating has been.
coinpleted. They still have a few more streets to complete.
The drainage ditch cleaning north of town is almost completed.
ENGINEER'S REPORT .

The City Engineer �ead a letter from Mr. Sand,: King County - _
Planning Director stating that no permit was ever, issued fo�
commerical recreationai uses on the property now used as e motor . '
cycle race course.
