This letter wes referred to the Light Committee. PETITION The City Clerk read a petition from property owners in the vicinity of BudnHauge•s Auetion. . PROGRESS REPORTS The City Clerk read three rogress reports from R. E. Wolff, Consulting Engineer. Estimate �I , West Hill Springs Improvement, Auburn Con�Lruction Co. contractor. Amount due Contractor, $6,389.77. Esttmate �2, East Hill Water System, Aubu�n Construc- tion Co. contractor. Amount due contractor, $9,769.39. Estimate #I , Steel Water Tank, Pittsburg-DesMoYnes Steel Co. contractor. Amount due contractor, $16,222.46. It was moved by Kammeyer and 2nd by Fltzsimmons that the Coun il e�cept the recommendations of the Consulting Engineer. and the amounts due be paid Auburn Constructio� and Pittsburg-DesMoines Steei Co. MOTION CARRIED AUDIENCE Betty Roberson requested somathing be done about the Pioneer ' Cemete�y. The Historical Society is very interested in having this Cemetary as a historica•I portton of Auburn.. She �equested the Council to secure a title report to see who the legal owners. a�e. • It was moved by Towner and 2nd by Petersen that the City Attorney be Instructed to order the title report on the Pioneer Cer�etery. ' 1�0T I ON CARR I ED ' COMMITTEE REPORTS FINANCE COMMITTEE No report PURCHASING COMMITTEE No report F.IRE COMMITTEE Councilman Towner requested the Council go out to the Fire Station and see the new lawn and other improvements which have I been done. � LICENSE COMMITTEE No repo�t STREET COMMITTEE ' It was moved by Petersen and 2nd by Towner that the City Cierk be instructed to call for bids for grading, graveling, and asphalt paving on the south side of 25th St. S.E. betaeen M & 8 Stveets, bids to be opened Tuesday, October 18, 1860 at 8:00 P,M. REPORT No report STREET SUPT. REPORT The Street Supt. repo�ted they have completed cleaning the storm d�tches in the. norLh pa�t of town. They are also working on C St. S,W, and have nearly completed that aork. Ai ) the fall paintin.g Pos finished. ENGf.NEER'S REPORT The City Engineer stated they are surveying the traffic routes in town as part of the comprehensive plan. This one p�iase is for st�eet need and traffic patterns arithin the City. POLICE. CHIEF ' The Police Chief stated they are in need of a Poiice woman bu this years budget is covered under Civ( I Service. They mould 13ke the City Attorney to look into this and see lf they aould hire her \ anywey. \ The City Attorney stated he would have tha necessary informa- v tion et the next Council meeting. it aas moved by Sonnemann and 2nd by Fitzsimmons that the City approve the appointment of a Clerk-Matron at the earlist convenienc of the Police Dept. upon the City Attorney's approvai , subject to any ordinances that may be necessary. It was moved by Gaines and 2nd by Kammeyer requesting the May r to write a letter to the highway commission stating the Council is in favor of this widening. MOTION CARRIED The City Attorney stated that the road connecting the West - Hill resiyoir has run into another bind. The Consulting- Engineer stated� it would cost over the $S,OOO to fill in ,the .road es ptanned." Also, the property south of the City property; is not oaned by Mr. & Mrs. Burgener, but is owned by the Jeff's Or han Home E�tgte. The only way of obtaining this property woul � tl�irough••condemnation. Councilman Kammeyer stated that the Cons�9lting Engineee feels tMe City will not need this property.
