The City Clerk read a letter from Forest E. Kimmerle requesS-
ing cross walks be painted across Main and N streets for the safety
and protection of pedestrians and children going to the new First
Methodist 'Church .

The City Cler..k read a letter from the .Auburn Chamber of
Commerce Retail Trades Committee, requesting the City aliow free
parking _for shoppers on November 25th and 26th, 1960. ,
This letter was refereed to the Street Committee and Police
Chief and Councilman Aaby was , appointed temporarily to the Street
Committee so they wilt have power to act.

PLANNING COMMISSION
The City Clerk read a letter from the Planning Commission
and their recommendations on the following petitions: the petition
of the Catholic ArchbisFiop of Seattle to rezone from R-50 to �
pecial Property Use for church purposes was approved; ,.The petitio
•f Mr. Eugene. E. Engen to rezone from R-SO to Special Property Use
for an additional duplex in front of existing singie family dweling
�e denied; The petition of Mr. Glen Detton to rezone from RG to
^- 1 be approved; the petition of Mrs. Montie Lawrence to allow a �
trai.ler. house be installed be denied; The Plat of Lynde Estates be
approved; The Plat of Skyway Terrace be approved; The Plat of
Forest Villa �r3 be approved; �
It was moved by Kammeyer and 2nd by Sonnemann that the City -
ouncil accept the recommendations of the Planning Commission as .
per above stated and the City Attorney be instructed to draft the
necessacy ordinances.

The City Clerk read a letter from R. E. Wolff, estimate ,#2, -
teel Water Tank, Pittsburgh DesMoines contractor. Amount of work
done $23,856.56 less 15% retained $3,578.48, less previous payment,
16,222..46. Amount due contractor $4,055.62.
It was moved by Kammeyer and 2nd by Fitzsimmons that the City
ouncil accept the Consulting Eng ineer's Report and the amount of
4,055. 62 be paid to Pittsburgh Desh'oines St�el Co.

CouriciP accept the Consulting Engineer's report and the amount of.
$9,410.05 be paid to Auburn Construction Co.

Council accept the report of the Consulting Engineer and the amoun

The Mayor stated the Finance Committee had reviewed the r.eques
of the Library Board to have a bond issue for a new library. The .
Finance Committee does';not have a clear enough idea ,on what` the . .

to propose for a bond issue vote:

Cbuncilman Petersen reported the Street' Committee had awarded
the b�id for the street sweeper to Feenaughty Machinery Co. for e
ayne sweeper.
I.t .was moved by Petersen and 2nd by, Kammeyer that the City
Cierk be instructed to return the bid checks of the unsuccessful
bidders.

Councilman Kammeyer reported they haven't been able to get
the necessary release from Rohr Aircraft to hook onto their water
line. .A representative from Auburn has gone to California where
he main off.ices are for Rohr and something shoufd be done shortly
about getting this release.
The Water Committee hasn 't made any decisions as yet regarding
he Auburn .Rcademy request.

?he Water. Supt. stated they do not have sufficient funds in
he Equipment Fund to purchase the backhoe. However, there is
oney availa6l:e tn the Miscelleneous Equipment Fund that could be
ransfered. to the Equipment Fund.
He also reported that the City of Algona is now using Auburn W ter.
The Water Supt. stated thet`Richard Wolff will have a meeting
ith Mr, Knechtel and Archie Mead regerding the plat north of the
uburn Airport,
