Regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Auburn, held at 8:00 P.M, in the Council Chambers at the City Hall . The meeting was called to order by Mayor Shaughnessy Councilmen Present: Aaby, Kammeyer, Fitzsimmons, Sonnemann, ' Towner, Gaines. _ . . , Councilmen Absentc Petersen Minutes of the previous , meeting held Jaivary 3, 1961 , aere approved as mailed: ' PUBCIC HEARING The Mayor declared the Public Hearing open on L. I .D . # 138. Mr. Gregg questioned the amount charged on the L. I .D. George Schuler, City Engineer, gave Mr. Gregg the percentages that were used in determining the amounts of assessments. There being no further discussion, the Mayor declared the . Public Hearing, on L. I .O. # 138 closed. It wes moved by Kammeyer and 2nd by Fitzsimmons that the City Attorney be instructed to draft the necessary oddinance to complete L. I .D. #138 and the assessment roll be approved as submitted by the City Engineer. MOTION CARRIED The City Engineer requested the public heerings for �Ernest Crane request andthe vacation of a gtreet in �Forest Villa :be hefd till next regular Council meeting because notices must be ' posted twenty days instead of ten. It was moved by Sonnemann and 2nd by Kammeyer. #hat the request of the Gity Engineer be approved. MOTION CARRIED 1 BIDS Bids were received from the following for alterations to the City Hall : Perry Construction bidding $33,986.00; C. E, Skinner bidding $86,389.00 minus $3 107.00 if jail equipment i.s acceptable; Busch Construction ,bidding ,�75,795.00; Calhoun Construction bidding $73,343.00; Lone Bros. Construction bidding $76',978.00; kuburn Gonstruction bidcling $75,700.00 . These bids were referred to the Police Building Committee. ' CORRESPONDENCE AUBURN EAGLES , The Ci_ty ,Clerk read a � letter from the Auburn .Eagles requesting permission to use the City Park facilities during their youth convention to be .held June .24th & 2.5th, 1961 . They furthec request permission to� hold a parade on June 24th, 1961 . This request was referred to the Park Board and License Comm. AUBURN PUBLIC SCHOOLS The City Clerk read a letter from the Auburn Public Schools requesting attention be given to the dcainage ditch along thc , south side of 30th St. No. The road is crumbling to a point where it is tunneling back under the road. . Councilman Towner stated .the Stceet Committee is aware of this hazard andhav� asked the N.P. Railroad to clean their ditches. The Railroad said they will take care of this when equipment is availablec ' The City Clerk read a . letter from the Auburn Public Schools � requesting the City to designate about one hundred feet along the east si�e of. Terminal Park School as a - school bus loading zone. - This matter has already been taken care of. E, to 25th St. S.E, from F St. S.E, to H St. S.E. This request was referred to the Light Committe�. guarterly report The City CFerk read the quarterly report from the Police Judge. Cases docketed, 458; ,cases disposed of 426; Minor traffic vi'olations 268; Courtesy :tickets ; 142Z; Total receipts and dlts- ' bursements $6,578. 65,; bai.l returns $299.00. Total amount .to Treasurer �6;279.55. This report was ordered filed. POLUTION CONTROL COMMISSION The City Clerk read a letter from the Pollution Control Comm ission confirming the statements made at the �ec. 20th Councll meeting pertaining to the dumping of septir tank pumpings into the sewage treatment plant. They recommend the City Co�nncil pass an ordinance that prohibits tHe dumping of septic tank contents into the city sewage syatem or at the present sewage treatment plant. The City Attorney was instructed to draft the necessary ordinance. PLANNING VCOMMISSION--MINUTES The City Clerk read the minutes of the January 4th Pk�nning Commission meeting ' in which the Dec. 8th, 1960 minutes were correct d. This letter was ordered filed. HARRY 0; U ESKE INSURANCE ' The City Cierk read a letter from Harry 0, Lieske in whi_ch a broo6ure was enclosed for coverage on the steam Fieating boiler and �iiping for the City Hall and the hot water heating boiler and storage tank for the Library. The insurance Committee recommends the City insure these i.tems. , . T.his letter was referred to ,the Purchasing Committee. CLAIM . � The City Clerk read a claim against the City from Nathan R. Werner for injuries received by his son Clifford A.. Werner as a • result of negligence on the part of employees of the City of Auburn in cleaning and buring of. brush and trees. The claim is in the sum of $ 10,000 .00. This claim was referred to the Insurance Committee. MYRON MASSEY - � The. Ci.ty Clerk read a -letter :from Myron Massey requesting his property west of the F. A'.A, site and south of Hwy #5 L�e rezoned from unclassified to C- I for super market and possible shopping center. This letter was referred to the Planning Commission. GEORGE SCHULER ' The City Clerk read a letter from George Schuler submitting for approval the final essessment roll for L. I .D. #137. Tt was moved by Kammeyer and 2nd by Sonnemann that a Pubiic Hearing be held February 7, 1961 on L. I .D. # 137.
