MOTION CARRIED CORRESPONDENCE , � � � CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION The City Cierk read a letter from the Civil Service Commission isting changes in the New Auburn Civil Service Commission Rules � eguletions reviewed with members of the City Council , Fire Dept. nd Police Dept . It was moved by Petersen and 2nd by Kammeyer that the Council pprover.;the new Civil Service rules with the foFlowing changes: I , Minimum height of firemen 5' 6" and 130 Fbs in weight: 2, Maximum age for eligibility for fire chief exam shall be 55 . years of age. 3. Maximum ages for Civil Service Promotional Requirements shalf not apply to present established members bE��the Fire and ' Police Departments. MOTION CARRIED AUBURN BUSINESS AND PRO- FESSIONAL WOMEN'S CLUB ' A letter was read froms the Auburn Business & Professional omen's Club requesting permission to install a banner at the inter- ection of East Main and At�burn Ave. advertisfing their °Show Case 61 o be held April 29 a�d 30. AUBURN WASHINGTON TUESDAY APRIL 4 . 1.961 CLARK-COLEMAN & ASSOCIATES The City Clerk stated that the monthly report from Clark-Colema & Associates had been rece,ived and is .on file. DON ALLISON 8 ASSOCIATES The City Cierk read a progress report from Don Allison & Assoc. certifying that ail electrical work on the Fire Station project has been completed and that $400 being retained by the City is now due c;� the contractor, Lo�e Bros. Construction Co. ft was moved by Towner and 2nd by Kammeyer that a warrant� be ' drewn on the Cumulative Reserve Fund #2 to pay the $400 retained. MOTION CARRIED ARCHIE FRY The City Clerk stated she had received a work progress report on Alterations to the City Hall from Archie Fry, Project Architect. Payment #2 is now due the contractor, Calhoun Construction Co. . in the amount of $13,427.36. It was moved by Sonnemann and 2nd by Kammeyer that this be pai ; MOTION CARRIED. AUBURN JR. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE A letter was read by the City Clerk from the Auburn Jr. Chamber of Commerce in regard to the three tree planters placed. on Main St. The letter requested permission of the Council to place approx. 60 , of these as part of state beautification for Centucg."11 . Ken Graybeal represented the Chamber stating that these planters ; would be a good basis for Christmas decorations as well as proyidin year-round street beautification for years to come. It was moved by Towner and 2nd by Kammeyer that the City Attor- ' . ney be instrueted to draw up an ammendment to the present ordinanc permitting the Jaycees request. MOTION CARRIED A map of the proposed placing of these pla�ters was shown. Mayor Shaughnessy appointed Councilman Gaines to work with the Jaycees. , ALEX SONNICHSEN The •City Clerk read a request from Alex Sonnichsen that he be gcanted a :Special Property Use Permit to add a professional engin r's office to his property at Sth and G St. SE. A draaing was attache . This request was referred to the Pla�ning Commission. RICHARD M. �YNDE The City Clerk read a letter with a blueprint attached, re- questing the Council 's approval of the revision of Lynde Estates which now aonform to FHA specifications. � This request was referred to the Planning Commission. GREEN ACRE REST HOME - The City Clerk read a petition to rezone property at 414- 17th , SE from R-2 Residential to Special Property Use for a rest home. The petition was referred to the Planning Commission. G. E. ODEGARD The City Clerk read a petition to rezone the 6. E. Odegard ' property neer the intersection of the W. Valley Highway and Cemeter Rd. from R- I Residential to R-4 Multiple Family Dwelling. The p5tition was referred to the Planning Commission. E. POLICE COMMITTEE Councilman Sonnemann made a motion, and Kammeyer 2nd, that the bid check of Scarff Motors be returned on the, purchase of a new Police car. MOTION CARRIED , WATER SUPT. REPORT No report . STREET SUPT. REPORT George Blinn reported that the Cleanup project is 95°� complete and that he hopes to finish by the evening of April S, 1961 . The Mayor requested that the newspapers and radio make public that all residents are to keep alleys in good condition and free of obstacJes to traffic. ENGINEER'S REPORT George Schuler reported on the meeting of the State Highway Dept. with residents of the West Hill area. The State will change the light at Gallagher's corner back to stop and go, as the residen s requested, The Dept. requested the City install two mercury- vapor Iights at this intersection. The Mayor referred this to the Light Committee. POLICE CHIEF � No report. FIRE CHIEF No. report.
