at. 8:00 PM in the CounciT�Chambers at the City Hall .
The meeting was called to order by �ayoc Shaughnessy.
Couneiimen Present: :Aaby, Petersen,, Kammeyer, Fitzsimmons, Son
nemann, Towner, Gaines.
Couneilmen Absent: None. •
The minutes aere approved as mailed.
PUBLIC HEARING
None.

�The following bids were opened on the printing of booklets and
maps in accordanee with zoning Ordinance � 1428: ' '
Aubu�n Sun: 300 booklets $125.30, 100 zoning maps $28.50.
' Auburn Globe News: 300 booklets $162.50 plus 4� sales Tax; 100.
zoning maps $39.50 plus 4°� sates tax.
These bids were referred to the Planning Commission and the
Purehasing Committee.
CORRESPONDENCE
R. ql. ARNEY
The City Clerk �ead a request from R. W, Arney asking that he
be granted permission to build an incinerator aith an outside feed
door- for h.is store at 959 East Main St. The Mayor refee�ed this to
the Planning Commission end the Fire Department.

The City Clerk read en invitation to attend Apen House ,at the
' Aubu�n Public Library on Wed. , April 19, 1961 from IO AM to 9 PM.
POLICE COURT ,
The City Clerk stated that the monthly report of the Auburn
Police Court had been received and is on fife in hee offi,ce.
PLANNING .CpMMISSION
The City Clerk read a letter from the Auburn Planning Commissio
regarding the rezoning �equest of A9r. George 0. Wolff, The Com-
mission reeommends denial of this �equest as it does not fit into
�" tFie total City's Comprehensive Plan.
The motion was made by Councilman Aaby and 2nd by Towner that
the Councit concur with the� decis.ion of the Planning Commission
i n th i s matter'.

The Commission recommended also in this letter that the. City
ouncil app�ove the p�oposed �evisions fo� the Lynde Estate Plat.
lt was moved .by Kammeye� and 2nd by Aaby that the Council accep
the reeommendation of the Pianning Commission.

The motion was made by Sonnemann and 2nd by. Fitzsimmons thet
the. Majo� Tho�oughfare Plan as submitted by Coleman 6 Clark Plan-
ning� Consultants be approved. ° '

TACOMA
The City Clerk read a lette� from the P�esident of United
uilding Co, of Tacoma �equesting that st�eet lights be provided
fo� the Forst Vilia area, mainly along 22nd SE between Dogwood
ri've and Hemloek Streets; aleng with prope� intersection lighting
t ent�ies to this area. _ _ .
The Mayor referred this �equest to the Light Committee.

SE that a petition be prepared for the formation of a Local Improv -
ment District on 0 St. SE between 2nd and 3rd streets with these
improvements; sidewalks, curbing with storm gutters and biack top—
ped street.

POST OFFICE PARKING SPACES
A request was read by the City Clerk from John Henry Soltman
that consideration be given post offic� patroAs by shortening the
30-minute pa�king periods in front of the post office. He observe
that the parking spaces are being used by shoppers.
' In this same regard the Clerk read correspondence from Charles
0. Jackson of the Post Office Dept. requesting a change in parking
regulations at this location. Mr. Jackson feels that an approxi -
mate time limit of 15 min. parking would be adequate.
The Mayor referred these requests to the Street Eommittee and
the Police Chief.
SEWER DEPT. BUILDING
The Clerk read a letter ' from the City Water Supt. certifying
that construction of the Sewer Dept. Building has been completed
according to specifications, and recommending the job be accepted
and the balance due $5833. 15 be paid Hedman Construction Co.
It was moved by Kammeyer and 2nd by Sonnemann that the Clerk
be instructed to pay Hedman Constructio� Co. the balanee of $5833. 15
due on their contrect.
MOT I ON CARI��RED
AUDIENCE
Ed Davis, Business Representative of the Carpenter's Union of
Auburn-Kent protested after=hours work of regular City employees,
especially two Policemen who have been doing carpentCy work.
Afte� discussion the Mayor promised to look further into the
' matter.

PURCHASING COMMITTEE

FIRE COMMITTEE
Gouncilman Towner had no �epo�t but asked that Fire Chief
Cal'kins tell the Councll about the �i �e Command School in Yakima
which he and W. E. Wheeler attended. The Chief reported on the
school .
LICENSE COMMITTEE
No report.
STREET COMMITTEE
Councilman Petersen reported that the Street Committee and
Couneilman Aaby had selected the one bid for the Street Maintainer,
from Celdaell Maehinery Co. �
The motion was made by Petersen and 2nd by Toaner that the
Council accept the �eport of the St�eet Committee on this bid.
MOTfON CARRIED
' The motion was made by Petersen and 2nd by Kammeyer that the
5°b bid bond of the Caldwell Machinery Co, be returned to them.

I�ATER COMMITTEE
Councilman Kammeyer made the motion and Sonnemann 2nd that the
timeber bid on the Coal Creek wate� site, be awarded to Chester K.
Edarards.
This brought comments from Nelson W. Ule�y, anather bidder on
this timber. He stated that the largest amount of timbe� on this
site is Fi �, acco�ding to the Weyerhaeuser man who cruised the
area. Ulery said the cost of the Weyerhaeuser cru�se of Fir was
$95.00.
Upon discussion the Couneil members and the Wate� Supt. felt
it might be to the City's advantage to have the Alder, Maple and
Hemlock cruised before awarding the bid.

Bolton also reported that a .new man has been hired to �eplace

George Blinn rep6rted 'that the aller between K� & M St. south

Biinn stated that the Sootk� End Sto�m Sewer project . is 30� com-
lete. .
He also reported that �proximately 10 days ago the Cleenup_ proje t
as finished, with ove� 200 loads of rubbish being hauled away.

George Sehuler reported on, the six-,year ,thoroughfare plan which
