Regular meetincj of the Cit Council of the City of Huburn,
held at 8:00 P.M, in the Coun�� � Chambers at the City Hall .
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Shaughnessy,
Councilmen prese.nt: Haby, Petersen., . Kammeyer, Fitzsimmons,
Sonnemann,. Towner and•Gaines.
Minutes; of the previous meeting held July -18�, 1961 were,
approved as mailed:.
CORRESPONDENCE
. PETITION FOR STOP 51GN
H petition was received for a stop sign, on both sides of '
3rd St. N.E. , going in and coming out of the High School exit.
This petit,ion was referred to the Street Committee.
PETITION FROM GOLDEN HGE CLUB
A petition was received from the Golden Hge Club requesting
that the Park Board plan for a large area in the center section
of the former Terrace Housing acreage .to provide recreation area
for� the older people of the Huburn area.
� This petition was referred to the Park Board and Councilman
Gaines eas asked to see that the matter received consideration.

MIKE FICILE
Mike Ficile of J St. and l7th 5t. S.E , asked that something
be done about 17th St. S.E. He said the area used as a street
has 6een torn up by the �as Co. and Water Dept. and people are
driving over his sidewalk . He requested the city to gravel and
widen_ that portion used as a street.
This matter was referred to the Street Committee.

FIRE
Councilman Towner_reported for the Fire Committee saying
he and the Fire Chief had gone into 5eattle and talked with Paul
Braun of the Washington: Surveying & Rating Bureau, to find out .
what is expected of Auburn in relation to keeping our 5th cless
rating. Plans are being made to meet the requirements- suggested
by the Rating Bureau.

It was moved by Kammeyer and 2nd by Petersen that the Mayor
be instructed to write the Telephone Company requesting that ,
Huburn be given consideration for extended service to Seattle. �

WHTER SUNT.
The Water Supt. reported that the timber sales to'date have
amounted to $31 ,259..91 . .
He further reported that 1680 ' of 8" pipe has 6een laid on ,
22nd and Dogwood to Skyway Lane and 1373' on Skyway Lane; ; with
3 pumper f'ire hydrants in Skyway Lane. This pipe has been Iaid
and tested.

DISPOSAL .NLHNT ONERATOR
The Water Supt. . reported that the Disposal Plant operetoc
Jack Muir, , is leaving to take another job and Tom Cox the assis-
tant operator will take over. He said he will need to hire anoth r
maintenance man to take Tom Coxs' piace.
ULLERY, TIMBER
Councilman Kammeyer reported on the cut timber on the
watershed and said Mr. Ullery hed promised to have trucks out
' tomorrow to start hauling same. Thi.s is considered a fire
hazard. Kammeyer said the Fire Marshall was to look over the
situation the following day and if Ullery does not meet his
recommendations and remove timber, the city attorney will be
asked to take steps to see that he does.

1462 entitl �d " An Ordinance of the City of Huburn, Washington,
declaring a public emregency to exist arid requiring the approp-
riation of $675.00 from the L. I .D, advances account of the Curren
Expense Fund of the City of �Nuburn for the purpose of providin.g
necessary funds fon extra payroll in the Dog Control Department

It aas moved by Sonnemann and 2nd by Kammeyer that Resolution
No.. 75 entitied " H resolution of the City of Huburn Washington,
relating to the transfer of funds within the PoJice bepartment of
the Cityoof Huburn, Washingtoh, to provide necessary funds �for
the operation of said Dept.", be introduced and adopted with the
following roll call vote being recorded, Haby, yes; Petersen, ye,s;
Kammeyer, yes; Fitzsimmons, yes; Sonnemann, yes; Towner, yes; and
Ga.ines, yes.

� Councilman Towner reported foc the Fire Committee sayi"ng the.
Fice chief was �inbestigating partici'pation in Mutual Fire Defense
as proposed by the Hmerican Municipal Hssn. , The !Rating Bureau
oromised to investigate further and inform Chief Calkins of their
findings.
