AUBURN .WASHINGTON TUESDAY AUGUST IS' 1961
Regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Huburn, held
at 8:00 P.M, in the Council Chambers at the Cit y Hall .
The meeting was .called to order by Mayor pro-tem Kammeyer.
Councilmen pre5ent : Aaby, Kammeyer, Sonnemann, Towner and
Gaines.
Councilmen absent: Petersen and Fitzsimmons.
Minutes of the previous meeting held Hugust I , 1961 were
approved as mailed.

CORRESPONDENCE
AUBURN LIONS REQUEST
A letter was received from the Auburn Lions club requesting
the ci.t.y to finance a summer recreation director.
The .Mayor asked Councilman Gaines to work w,ith the Finance
. Committee on this r.equest.
G. S. N. LETTER
A letter.. was received from the G.S.H, seyin:g they will notify
the c:ity in advance if the Post Office buil'ding becomes surplus
and avai � able for disposal .
EHGLES
A letter was received from the Eagles Club thanking the rity
for the.ir support g:i.ven them at their Youth Convention.
HRCHIE FRY
` ARchie Fry, architect for the City Hall alterations submitted
the report of Calhoun Construction Co. for alterations to the City ,
Hall building, for payments No. 5 in the amount of $9699.37 and No.
6 in the amount of $8 865. 66 due contractor..
It was moved by �onnemann and 2nd by Aaby that payments 5 and.
6 be approved for payment. The motion passed with the following
roll call vote being redorded, Haby, yes; Kammeyer, . yes; Sonnemann,
yes; Towner,' yes; and Gaines, yes.
� NETITION FOR LID
The City Engineer submitted a petition for a Local Improvement
District for grading, graveling and surfacing Dogwood Street S.E.
between State Highway No. 5 and Skyway Lane. This petition was
signed by 53.33% of the property owners atfected.
This petition waa referred to the Street Committee to report
back with a recommendation at the next meeting.

Councilman Sonnemann reported for the Llcense Committee submit ing
an application for a Go-Cart license from Berle Green.
Mr. . . Green explained that there will be �IO . go-carts in operati n.
These go-carts will be muffled and rented. He said he would not
let any other go-carts on the track unless they are as quiet as liis

STREET COMMITTEE
Councilman Towner reported for the Street Committee saying
��at a stop sign has been placed, on the east side of E St. N.E. a
7_nd and at 3rd and the 15 MPH sign request was denied.
Councilman Towner reported for the Street Committee on the
request of Mike Ficile saying they suggested to Mr. Ficile that h
talk with the Schooi District to see if they will deed the other
portion of 17th St. S. E. so that the entire street can be opened.
' The City Engineer sa:id Supt. Holman of the School District
said the school district wii-I deed the required right o�f way and
will favor am LID if the rest of the property owners will go alon .
WHTER COMMITTEE
Counciiman Kammeyer reported for the Water Committee saying
the city is operating under the main contract as far as the timbe
sale is concerned.
LIGHT
It was moved by Gaines and 'Lnd by � owner that a 6000 Lumen
light be placed on 26th and F St. S. E. ; a 6000 Lumen light at 26t
and � St. . S.E. and a 6000 Lumen light at 25th and G St. S.E.

POLICE COMMITTEE
Councifiman Sonnemann reported for the Nolice Committee sayin
that he had talked with Hrchie Fry , Hrchitect and that Fry was
expecting word from the Contractor that the new jail is completed
He said after the jail is completed i,t will be inspected and then
the Police Department can move in. The city plans to hold an
inspection open to the public after the Police Dept. has moved in

ENGINEER �
The City Engineer said it is necessary for the City Council
to hoid a pubiic hearing regarding the city streets to be improve
under the Capital Improvement program, in order for the city to
use the gas tax money allowed for the pucpose by the last
legislature.
It was moved by Towner and 'Znd by Haby that the City Clerk
cal7 for a public hearing to be held on Sept. 5th, 1961 at 8:00
P.M. , regarding the capital improvement program. MOTION CARRIED

declaring a pubiic emergency to ex.ist and requiring the appropria ion
• of $675c00 from the L. I .D, advances account of the current expens
' funcl of, the City of Huburn for the purpose of providing necessary
funds for extra payroll in the Dog control department of� the" City

It was moved by Sonnemann and 2nd by Naby that Ordinance No.
1463 entitled " Nn Ocdinance of the" City of Huburn, Washington,
amending section 3 of Ordinance No. 633 of the City of Huburn, �
Washington, said Ordinance No. 633 being an ordinance relating to
the use of sidewalks in the _City of, Huburn , prohibiting obstructi" ns
thereon, or overhanging of same, and providing penalties fo�
violations thereof, and repealing ordinance No. 1439 of the City
o.f Huburn and all ameridments thereto and all other ordinances or
parts of ordinances which conflict with this ordinance", be

by the City of Auburn pursuant to Chapter 35 .50 of the revised
code of Washington for non payment of delinquent assessments of
L. I .D., I10 of the City of Huburn". , be introduced and adopted with '

It was moved by Sonnemann and 2nd by, Haby that Ordinance No.
1465 entitled " Hn Ordinance of the City of Hubucn,• Washingtori,
relating to parking and regulating parking on the pu6lic streets,
avenues and. alleys of the City of Huburn ;.. describing the duties
of officers and others in relation thereto; defining offenses,
providing pe.naities, and repealing ordinance No. 462, 611 , 725,
795, 903, 905, 954, 989, 1044, I101 , 1116, 1165, 1175, 1221 ,
1327, and 1329, and all amendments thereof' and all other ordinanc s
and sections of or"dinances insofar as they are in conflict there-

This ordinance was turned over tb the Police Committee and
Police Dept. to look over and make the necessary changes .and the
Gity .Clerk was instructed to make copies and send to the

RESOLUTION N0. 76
It was moved by Towner and 2nd by Gaines that Resolution ,
No. 76 entitled " H Resolution of the City of Huburn, Washington,
relating to the. construction, reconstruction and repair of certan
sidewalks, gutters, curbs. along and driveways across sidewalks
in the City of Hubur, requiring the cost thereof to be. borne by
the abutting property owners, and setting a date for a public
hearing on said matter°, be introduced and adopted with the
following roll ca.11 vote being recorded, Haby, yes; Kammeyer,
yes; Sonnemann, yes; Towner, yes; and Gaines, yes:
RESOLUTION N0. 77
It was moved by Gaines and 2nd by Sonnemann •that- Resolution
No. - 77 entitled " A Resolution of the City of Auburn, Washington,
relating to the transfer of funds in the : current expense fund of
the City of Auburn so as to provide necessary funds for the
codification of municipal ordinances", be introduced and. adopted
with the following roli call vote being recorded Haby, yes;

of successor trsuteesin the Slaughter precinct cemetery � is on
