Regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Auburn,
held at 8:00 P.M, in the Council Chambers at the City Hall .
The meeting mas caFled to order. by Mayor Shaughnessy.
Counciimen present: Aaby, Lea, Kammeyer, -Fitzsimmons, Sonnema n,

Minutes of the previous meeting held. February 20, 1962 were
approved as mailed.

APPLICATION FOR FEDERAt GRANT FOR '
, SEWAGE TREATMENT WORKS OONSTRUCTION
A letter from James P. Behlke, Senior Engineer of the Washing on
tate Pollution Control Commission stated that five copies of the
application for Federal G�ant for �ewage Treatment Works Constructi n
haii. been received. If the project receives certiflcation by the
ollut'ion Control Commission, funds will be availabd�e after Julyl .

SUGGESTIONS TO BENEFIT AUBURN
A . letter from R, C. Bergum gave the following suggestions to �
enefit Auburn: ( il ) The .floa of traffia should be improved on -
a'in Street. ( 2) A dog leash law should be put into affect. (3)
ztend warning tickets to out-of-state visitors when found to be
verparked at meters. �
Mayor Shaughnessy stated that he was in favor of a dog leash
law, and due consideration wouid be given to all suggestions.

A letter from Louis E. Gage, Director of Sales C. Ralph
leming Realtor, granted permission to the City of Auburn and The 1
hamber of Commerce to use Lot Five of Block One, Walnut Lawn

Mayor Shaughnessy stated that they appreciated the offer of'"
. Ralph Fleming Realtor, and a report would be made by the street
committee on this subject.

A letter from J.V. Lange, Building Inspector, requested the
ouncil to take action to permit apartment owners to list any vaean
nits with Expo-Lodging for the duration of the exposition, and tha
ny units offered in any way other than through that official offic
nd not covered by a C- I Commercial zoning or Special Property Use
ill be in violation of the City of Auburn Zoning Ordinance #1428.
It aas moved by Fitzsimmons and seconded by Lea that action
n request be tabled until next meeting.

be considered for the engineering. work in connection with a
proposed L..I .D. for paving in the Forest ViIIa Addition.

It was moved by Lea and seconded by Towner that the City Clerk
all for sealed bids for furnishing a dump truck for the Street
epartment, bids to be opened at 4:00 P.M. Tuesday March 20, 1962,
specifications to be on file in office of City Clerk.

Councilman Lea reported for the Street Committee on the matter
f a roadside park on the land offered by C. Ralph Fleming Realtor
or that purpose. The committee felt the site was: too small and
oncurred with Chief of Police Darby that if used as a roadside
ark, it would constitute a traffic: hazard.
It wes� moved by Lea and. seconded by Aaby that . �o City money
e` spent in connection with making a roadside park on this land.

. Lea reported, that in response to a written request, he and
he City Engineer had inspected the streets in the Auburn Forest
illa Addition ,and . recommended they be accepted by the city.
It was moved by Lea and seconded by Fitzsimmons that the
treets as platted in Au6urn Forest Villa Addition be accepted.

- Park Supt. Freemire reported that the prisoners they Were
using were aorking out very well .
PLANNING DIRECTOR
Planning Director Schuler reported that he had attended a
meeting of the Valle ' Industrial Committee. He stated that aork
on Highway 99 and a�ighway to tink the Renton area with Highaay
99 would be the next undertaking of this Committee. He siad
hat the first bid on the Valley Freeway would be in May. Schuler
reported that the widening of "C' Street in Auburn will come up
this month in court and the call for bids on the "C" Street
beautification project will be made at any time.

Attorney Smythe reported that he had received a letter from
the Federal Aviation Agency requesting the approval of the Council
: on the Federal Aviation Agency R( ght-of-entry foc construction
agreement the Muckleshoot Passive Repeater site.

Attorney Smythe. reported that he would see Mrs. Zenna Roe
about the purchase of the °K' Street property, and report back
next meeting.

It was moved by Gaines and seconded by Towner that the Cify
lerk be permitted to enter into an agreement with tfie Fire
Department to take a census. ' '

AIRPORT SURVEY ,
It was moyed by Gaines and ,seconded by Kammeysr that the"Mayor
and Gity Clerk be directed to file a formal request with the
Federal Aviation Agency for a site survey to determine the
feasibility of a municiple airport at the site of the present Aubuc
irport. "
