The meeting was calJed to order by Mayor Shaughnessy.

Seale,d, bids for supplying the Street Department with a 20,000
G. V. W: Dump Truck Complete with Body and Hoist were received and
opened a,t,.,4,:P. M. March 20, 1962, in the City Clerk 's Office. The '

ANNEXATION OF PROPERTY
A letter received from H, C. Jones, Secretary Board of Directo s
Auburn Pu6lic Schools, petitioned the City Councii to annex to the ity
of Aubucn,.: propecty owned 100°� by Auburn School District No. 408 an
which lays contiguous to `the southeast bordee of the existing city
iimits:
It was moved by Gaines and seconded by Kammeyer that the Counc I
accept this letter as a petition for annexation, and that the City
Clerk publish notice for ..a public hearing to be held at the Council
Meeting of April 3, 1962.

" REQUEST FOR SM?EURDAY .FREE PARKING
A �lette� received from Auburn Chamber of Commerce requested
consideratio� of a plan which .aould make possible free parking on
Saturdays regulated by the police.
This matter was turned over to the Street Committee & Councilm n
Sonnemann.

VALLEY HOBBY CENTER REQUEST
FOR TWO HOUR PARKING
A letter . received from Valley Hobby Center requested the
establishing of a two hour parking limit on the East side of C
Street from and including 216 C Street Southeast, North to the
corner of 2nd and C Street, excluding the present "No Parking"
area. '
This matter was referred to the Street Committee.

COMPLAINT ABOUT CANDITION OF °R"
STREET SOUTHEAST FROM 21st to 29th S .
A letter received from residents of "R" Street Southeast from
2lst to 29th Street informed the council of existing conditions
in ' this area and requested that something be done to pave the
street and slow down the trucks that are tr.aveling on "R^ Street. .
Ellsworth Hal �ey stated that they had written the letter to'
the Council as they had received no help from the City or Police
Department on previous requests.
� City Engineer Cote stated that they were presently surveying
the street, a�d it would be about eight weeks before actual work
on the street was started.
Planning Director Schuler reported that a State Aid Engineer
would come out to go over the plans for the improvement of this
street.
` JOSEPH KLONTZ REQUEST
FOR STREET L7GHTS
A letter received from Joseph Kiontz requested the installing
of lights on the corners of twenty-second streets adjoining Auburn
Avenue and twenty-first and Auburn Avenue.
This matter was referred to the Light Gommittee.
KING COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
ACCEPTED ORDINANCE N0. 1492
A letter received from the 'King County Commissioners Office
stated that the report on Ordinance No. 1492 aas approved and. that
the report and Ordinance No. 1492 were placed' on file.
PARK BOARD CHAIRMAN REQUESTS APPROPRI =
ATION OF FUNDS FOR OPTION AND' PLANNI G
' WORK
A letter received from William A. Raven, Auburn Park Board
Chairman requested the city gua�antee $800 necessary to get
planning work done on land known as the Auburn Terrace for a City
Park. Clark-Coleman will do the work and wait for pay until euch � ,
time' as a bond issue. for development of the project is passed.
However, if the bond issue fails, the city will be obligated for �
thi.s amount. A request was also made for $100 option money to hol
e.leven acres of Gr'een River property for future development.
Bill° Reven� stated that the Kiwanis Club was taking over radio
KASY and all proceeds of this aill be put into the Auburn Terrace
City Park Project. He also estimated that the total cost of .this
proJect would be approximately $70,000 plus $18,000 for the
purchase of the river property.
It was moved by 6aines and seconded by Lea that we..provide
$100.00 for the option of eleven acres of Green River property, an
give the park board the authority to deal With Clark-Coleman
Associates in regard to the planning work necessary on the 'Auburn
Terrace property.

FEDERAL AVIATION AGENCY
A letter received from Federal Aviation Agency returned the
' accepted Purchase Agreement forwarded to them December 20, 1961 .
A second letter contained an executed copy of R.ight-of-Entry
for Construction, Muckleshoot Passive Repeater Site, Seattle,
Washington.
AUBURN GLOBE-NEWS WORLD 'S FAIR
SOUVENIR EDITION �
A lette� received from Auburn Globe-News stated that they are
going to ,pu6lish a World's Fair Souvenir Edition devoted �to oue ��.
, area and it's attractions. • It recommended the City -of Auburn to
tell their story in this edition. A space, 5 cofumns by 76 inches
for a total of 80 inches at $4.50 an inch wouTd be $360.00. .
This matter was ceferred to the Purchasing Committee. ' �

ORDINANCE N0. 1500
City Attorney Smythe requested the Councils •indulgence in the
matter of Ordinance No. 1500. He said that the Ordinance needed
further study because some changes had been made in it, and he
hoped that it would be multigraphed by next meeting. He said that
the Ordinance would be presented at the April 3, 1962 meeting.

Attorney Smythe stated that the reverter clause had, been
removed from the deed on the Slaughter Cemetery, and was now
ready for approval by the Council .

Attorney Smythe reported that Rohr Aircraft was willing to
give the City an easement for the access of a street.

' Mayor Shaughnessy appointed AI Knechtel to fill the unexpired
