Board Meeting Minutes
September 18, 2013, 1:30 to 3 p.m.
Muckleshoot Room, White River Valley Museum
Call To Order, Introductions, Approval of Minutes
President Evans called the meeting to order and a motion was made by Bill and seconded by
Ronnie to approve of the minutes as written. President Evans asked the assembled what their
favorite school lunch was as a way to get into the spirit of the current exhibit.
For the.Museo.logy 101.segment.Patricia Cosgrove provided a preview of Gentleman
Desperado the outdoor theatrical performance featured at the Mary Olson Farm for three
weekends this fall. It is supported by the Site Specific Program of 4Culture.
II. Board President Report
President Evans congratulated staff on another successful Hops & Crops Brew Festival.
Rachael Burrum noted that revenue was up to roughly $8800; slightly under 1000 people
attended; sponsorships were made by Auburn Chevrolet, Reber Ranch, and Wyndham Suites.
Jamie skated that there were comments about a lack of seating, caused by the fence required
around a beer garden. Bill Greene stated that by making a beer garden only 21 only vendor
participation would improve. Ronnie commented that we need to ensure compliance with the
state laws for the special use liquor license. For these and other reasons we are looking at
Brewfest 2014 being for adults only.
Megan's second term as president will come to a close this year, with Vice President Pat
Cavanaugh in line to become president for 2014. They asked Ronnie Beyersdorf, Bill Greene,
Doug Lein and Joan Mason to serve on the Nominating Committee and develop a list of
nominees to fill vacancies and offices for 2014.
III. Committees (Items for Vote *)
Finance Committee
Treasurer Jamie Bothell reported that the expenses are in line with the budget especially with
the Halloween Costume Ball just around the corner. Patricia noted that the Kinkade family is
sponsoring an exhibit of George Kinkade Alpine Photograhy, our first exhibit in 2014.
The board approved a motion to change the membership fee structure for the museum to the
following with benefits as noted in the supportive documents:
$20 Senior /Student /Military /Teacher
$49 Household /Family of 5
$100 Bronze
$300 Gold
$500 Platinum
These changes will be initiated January 1, 2014, along with new admission fees and schedule of
free days.
Halloween Costume Ball Committee Chair Kim Perry reported on the sponsors 1
platinum and 8 gold sponsors, other board members are in the process of putting together
tables.
IV. Staff Report
Patricia reported that she has been working on a series of off sight exhibits, including
one at Green River Community College on Internment; a collection of historic photographs for
the Mayor and Council Offices at Auburn City Hall; and historic photographs and a painting on
loan to the Human Resources Department at City Hall.
