Call To Order, Introductions, Approval of Minutes President Megan Evans A. For the icebreaker, President Megan Evans asked board members to share their favorite Halloween costume they had as a child. The September board meeting minutes were reviewed and a motion was made by Ronnie Beyersdorf, seconded by Jamie Bothell to accept the minutes as written, so moved. II. Board President Report President Evans A. Megan reviewed of Museum calendar noting the impressive number of school tours, and that the big event of the year, the Halloween Costume Ball on October 19. III. Committees (Items for Vote *) A. Treasurer Jamie Bothell reported for the Finance Committee noting that the budget is in line with expectations for this time in the year, and that a drafted 2014 Society budget will be forethcoming in the November board meeting. The September financial statement was reviewed and passed by aception. B. On behalf of loan Mason and the Collections Management Committee Hilary Pittenger displayed a number of items reviewed and recommended for acceptance into the permanent collection. A motion was made by Mike Weibel and seconded by Doug Lein to accept the committee's recommendation, motion passed. C. Chair Kim Perry reviewed preparations for the Halloween Costume Ball, with staff and committee members doing set up, guests arriving at 6 pm, and table hosts responsible to greet their guests, help them understand the event sequence, making donations, and bidding collectively on deserts. Everyone thanked Kim and the committee for copius planning and preparations. IV. Staff Report A. Museum Director Patricia Cosgrove shared information with the board on recent Museum building damage due to water leaking into the permanent exhibits. The cause of this seems to be that the firm that build the expansion to the library drove over the Museum's exterior drain pipes and crushed them. We are in discussion with our insurance, the King County Library System, and the contractor. Mean while that area of the exhibit hall is closed. V. Megan asked Board Members to comment on the meeting or share any other pertinent information, then the meeting was adjourned at 2:45 p.m. Next Board Meeting: November 20, 2013, 1:30 to 3 p.m. Muckleshoot Room, White River Valley Museum
