Members absent (excused) Greg Dobbs, Bob Rakos, Warren Olsen. Staff Present: Craig Hudson, Cemetery Supervisor and Julie Mehl, Parks Secretary. A. Call to Order — The meeting was called to order at 2:00 pm by Jeanne Coffey. B. Review of April 2013 Minutes — The April 2013 minutes were reviewed but not approved as there is no quorum. C. Old Business: Parks Department Monthly Report - The Parks Department monthly report is now being sent out to the Cemetery Board via email. Jeanne remarks she enjoys receiving this. Outdoor marker sales display — The cemetery marker sample area has been updated to a simple sign "Mountain View Cemetery ". Warren wanted the sign to tie in with the rest of the cemetery. D. New Business: Welcome Arnie Galli — we are very excited to have Arnie as our newest member of the Cemetery Board with his years of experience as former Cemetery Supervisor. New upright monument section — The initial upright section has sold out, we were able to measure and eke out another 7 — 8 plots and later another 4. The last property there was sold for $5,995.00. There have been a lot of sales to the Russian / Ukranian community. We just started along the 6th addition and should be able to get 70 + graves in the new upright area. The first row will be upright, the second two rows will be flat. Arnie asks if we could fill the low area. The dirt was pushed back to keep the banks up and some testing was done (everything is dry). The irrigation is already there and we will landscape with ground cover. Will sell foundations as we go. Markers will be in three distinct rows. Prices will be in the $6,995.00 range. There will be 20 more graves available to sell. Forestwalk /Chapel of Memories — The Forestwalk area is selling quite well. Arnie asks if it's because the prices are affordable. Craig feels that folks want to get around the water. Cremation plots sell for up to $4,000.00, almost all are sold. Arnie sees ads for plots at Sunset Hills advertised in the paper for $20,000. Jeanne adds that people love the view up here at Mountain View, her husband Glen is here and that's what she loved and wanted for him. Chapel sales are a little slow as a result of the summer weather. The Chapel has the same hours as the gate (open until dusk) and haven't had any issues yet with that system. Some cemeteries give out keys to folks. Local cemeteries will sometimes allow folks to place rings /jewelry in the glass front niches which would be a risk for theft. 20/20 Office Assistant position — The position is in process, originally the assistant was scheduled to work 20 hours at the Parks front desk and 20 hours at the cemetery but it has been decided that only a part time 20 hour per week temporary employee would be needed at the cemetery. Most likely will hire an existing city employee from the temporary employee pool. The schedule will probably be late morning to early afternoon, 10:00 am — 2:00 pm. We have shortened our office hours from 9 to 4 so Craig has a chance to work on administrative work. Centennial Viewpoint Park —'The Long Look' deer sculpture which was stolen a few months ago will be re- installed with a camera and in a more visible location. Parks Maintenance will close and lock the gate in the evenings. There has been a lot of drug related activity at the park, we have asked the police department for more coverage. E. Reports: Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 2:45 p.m. Approved Date
