Muckleshoot Room, White River Valley Museum
1. Call To Order President Pat Cavanaugh

For the Museology 101 program, Patricia Cosgrove shared images, sounds and
information on Lushootseed, the native language of this region.
II. Committees
A. Treasurer Jamie Bothell presented the March Financial Statement and noted that
we are tracking with the annual budget.
B. Chairman Bill Greene presented the report for the 2013 Audit Task Force. He
reported that they found no irregularities with the finances of the Museum records, but have
some streamlining recommendations for the audit form itself. Board members Toya Turner,
Gerry Honeysett, Pat Cavanaugh and Bill Greene were thanked for their time performing this
important service.
C. Collections Management Committee Chair Scott Gibbons was absent, so Hilary
Pittenger reported that things are going well with the clearing out the items from inventory that
really do not belong in the Museum. The newly opened storage space is quite valuable for us. She
also told us about the new items that are coming into the collection. The board voted to accept
the recommendations of the Collections Management Committee, the notes of which are
attached in the file form of these minutes.
D. Chairperson Kim Perry reported that the last Halloween Costume Ball meeting was
well attended and on the structure of the committee for this year. New board member Michelle
Oosterink volunteered to work on procuring $3000 in event sponsors. Assignments were made to
the board members to contact previous and other possible sponsors.
Ill. Staff Report
A. Director Patricia Cosgrove shared a drafted Vision Statement. Lots of active
discussion on the proposals.
B. Museum Educators Rachael Burrum and Erin Hash Museum shared information on
growth of the fieldtrip program. So far in 2014 we are projected to set an all time record and an
increase of 40% in attendance since 2010. The e- marketing program started in 2012 and that has
really helped in getting the word out for teachers both in and out of the Auburn School district.
C. Patricia noted that the Farm is being readied for the open season which starts
June 21 and she is working on the early stages of permits to rebuild the bridge across the stream.
