ORDINANCE NO. ~ Z ~
.AN ORDIN.ANCE to tax and lioense, for the purposes of regulation
and revenue, the oonduoting and oarrying on a bOWling alley business
in the City of Auburn and within one mile of the oorporate limits
thereof, providing for the oolleotion thereof, providing penalties
for oarrying on suoh business without first paying suoh tax and ob-
taining suoh liGense. .
_ THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AUBURN DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOVlS:
SECTION 1. That before any person, partne rship or oorporation
shall engage in the bowling alley business in the City of Auburn or
within one mile of the Gorporate limits thereof, suoh person, partner-
ship or oorporation shall pay to the city Clerk .of said oity a speoial
lioense tax therefor, and prooure from said C it y Clerk a liGense
authorizing and pennitting suoh person, partnership or oorporation
to transaot and oarry on SUGh bowling alley business wi thin SUGh
oorporate limits or within one mile of suoh oorporate limits for a
period of one year. In oase only one alley is to be operated in Gon-
neGtion with swh business, such speoial lioenee tax is hereby fixed
at $10.00 per annum. In oase more than one alley is to be operated
in oonnection with such business, suoh speoial tax is hereby fixed
at $10.00 for the first alley and $5.00 additional for eaoh addition-
" al alley, per annum. No suoh lioense shall be issued for a period of
less than one year. Each suoh lioense shall state the looation (street
and number, if kno~ ) where SUGh bowling alley business is to be
oarried on.
SECTION 2. That any person or persons or oorporation who shall
engage in the bowling alley business in the city of Auburn or within
one mile of the corporate limits thereof, without having first paid
the speoial lioense tax and obtained the U,oense as in this ordinance
provided shall be deemed guilty of a mied~or and upon oonviGtion
thereof shall be punished by a fine of not exoeeding $ t l,-~'
and shall pay in addition thereto the oosts of proseout on. '
SECTION 3. That this ordinanoe shall take effeot and be in
forGe five days from and after its passage, approval and publioation
as required by law.
