Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 2:05 pm by Parks Maintenance Manager Mike Miller.
Additional board members attending were Jan Speer, Marsha Goodwin, James Tourangeau. Bryce
Landrud is absent /excused. Also present at the meeting were Parks Maintenance Manager Mike Miller,
Parks Horticulturist Rich Valenti, Environmental Planner Jamie Kelly, Parks Secretary Julie Mehl and guest
attendee Donna Hall, a member of the Auburn Garden Club.
II. Minutes
The January 2014 & February 2014 Tree Board minutes were approved unanimously.

Potential Heritage Trees — Parks Maintenance Manager Mike Miller brought photos for the board
to review of Flowering Cherry trees, one located at 22nd St NE, and one at White River
Buddhist Temple on Auburn Way N.

VI. Board Recommendations /Input
Board member Jan Speer accepted the Arbor Day proclamation at the City Council meeting on
Monday, April 7.
VII. Department Report
Arbor Day Tree Planting - We will be planting a Tri Color Beech tree for Arbor Day on Friday,
April 11th at Lea Hill Park at 11:00 am.
Other special events: Special Needs Fishing Derby, April 26`h at Mill Pond should bring 40 — 50
kids. The Youth Fishing Derby will be held at Mill Pond on May 3rd, should bring 100 — 200
kids. Clean Sweep will be May 3 and includes 8 — 10 projects.
Clean Sweep Projects: 15,000 trees have been planted at the Reddington Levy setback project,
10,000 need to be mulched. Bark may be spread at Veteran's Memorial Park. A new
playground will be built at Indian Tom Park including swings and a dome shaped climbing toy.
The 25 year old wooden play structures will be removed.
Kaboom! is looking for a partner for the Isaac Evans Park revamp project, it would be similar to
the Brannan Park project.
Game Farm Park had new stair steppers installed, adults can exercise while the kids play.
Environmental Planner Jamie Kelly reports "Earth Day" is to be held at the West Auburn lake
property on April 19. They will be working on ivy removal, all are welcome to volunteer. Jamie
will be performing baseline water quality tests at the lake in the near future.
Board member Jan Speer asks if we have made the offer to Community Services to visit Auburn
Home Owner's Associations with tree care information. Approval has been given from Parks
Director Daryl Faber, one City employee must accompany the Tree Board member(s).

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:45 pm.
