Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 2:05 pm by Chair Bryce Landrud. Additional board member attending was Marsha Goodwin. Lonnie Sundal is absent /excused. Jan Speer is absent/unexcused. Also present at the meeting were Parks Maintenance Manager Mike Miller, Parks Horticulturist Rich Valenti and Parks Secretary Julie Mehl. II. Minutes The December Tree Board minutes were approved unanimously. III. Correspondence/ Public Input Arnie Galli has notified Julie Mehl via email that he will not be volunteering another term as his expired 12/31/13. IV. Old Business ( Landrud) GSA is interested in their tree becoming a Heritage Tree. Bryce will go measure the diameter and height and officiallly nominate for Heritage status. The tree is located at 400 — 151" St SW. V. New Business VI. Board Recommendations /Input Marsha shared there is a new park (with trails) that King County installed near Green Valley Road. Mike Miller reports the condominium project has begun on Main Street. It will be five stories with retail on the first floor. VII. Department Report (Miller) F11J kl t41 A'I (AYA The utilities, sidewalks and curbing have been re -done on Park Avenue. Trees have been planted as an Eagle Scout project, and the huge puddle is gone. The curbing is 18" in height. The old spray pool has been removed from Veteran's Memorial Park. A new picnic shelter / stage has been installed at Les Gove Park. The patio has been re -done at Terminal Park with accented pavers. A new playground was installed at Brannan Park including new picnic tables & benches with a Kaboom! grant. The Green River levee setback project at Brannan Park has begun and 1,800 trees will be planted to 277`h Street. Nearly an acre has been cleared at Fulmer Park and irrigation installed. Rich Valenti is designing the landscaping plan. Lea Hill park has been developed and opened to a very eager neighborhood. It has been a very popular addition. Rich Valenti has taken on the D St SE beautification effort and the neighbors have been complimentary. 2014 PREVIEW New parking lot lights to be installed at Brannan. We are working with Consolidated Electrical on getting a grant for the project. We will be applying for a grant through Kaboom! for the playground and shop at Isaac Evans park. We may be able to replace playground equipment at Dykstra Park as well. The Les Gove Community Center project will start this year (where the old YMCA used to be). The trail will be tied into the community center. Four new parks: Edgeview, Lakeland, and two at Trail Run (near 277th) An architect is designing a plan for the west hill lake property, including trails and benches. The old Valley Drive in property has been permitted for retail and apartments. VIII. Adjournment There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:42 pm.
