I. CALL TO ORDER
A. Roll Call
Chair Cole Lindell called the meeting to order at 5:04 p.m. in Conference Room 3
at Auburn Ciry Hall, 25 West Main Street in Auburn.
Junior City Councilmembers present: Chair Cole Lindell, Vice Chair Sydney
Campbell, Tyler Cushing, Dalton Hands, Mary Riel, Olivia Thomas, Angelina
Zalutskiy and Mauricio Martinez-Torres.
Staff inembers present: Mayor Nancy Backus, Deputy Mayor Rich Wagner,
Assistant City Attorney Doug Ruth, Parks, Arts & Recreation Director Daryl Faber
and Council Assistant Antoinette Manthey.
B. Announcements
Chair Lindell introduced Girl Scout Troop 1758 to the Junior Council. The Girl
Scouts attended the Junior Council meeting in order to receive theirCelebrating
Community badge.
C. Agenda Modifications
There were no modifications.
II. CONSENT AGENDA
A. April 21 , 2014 Meeting Minutes
Motion by Member Thomas to approve the April 21, 2014 minutes, secbnded by
Member Zalutskiy. Motion carried unanimously. 8-0.
III. DISCUSSION ITEMS
A. Website Content Regulations (Ruth)
Assistant Attorney Ruth explained the content regulations for the Junior Council
portion of the city website. He explained that are not too many restraints, but to
be careful with copyright regulations. There are three ways to use copyrighted
images: contact the photographer and ask permission to use the image, use
licensed material such as Microsoft ClipArt and to use material that falls under Fair
Use Doctrine, which allows use of an image for government use, research and
educational purposes.

B. Youth Transportation
Junior Council fo share ideas on transportation options for youth
Deputy Mayor Wagner asked the Junior Council to share their ideas on youth
transportation. Member Thomas suggested there be transportation for youth that
reside in the valley to get to areas in Auburn such as Lea Hill. Vice Chair Campbell
suggested there be an age limit on who rides public youth transportation and
should require parental consent. Member Hands would like transportation to be
extended outside of Auburn city limits to get to attractions such as The Commons
in Federel Way and Kent Station.
C. Undeveloped Park Properties (Faber)
Director Faber distributed maps of various undeveloped areas that will become
parks in Auburn. He shared some of the proposed features and activities that will
be at the future parks such as spray park; restrooms, soccer fields and other
charecteristics. Vice Chair Campbell suggested adding a grass volleyball court to
one of the new parks or at an existing park such as Game Farm Park.
Director Faber encouraged the Junior Council to contact him if they have any
other ideas for future or existing parks in Aubum as the Junior Council will be
included in the decision-making process.
Deputy Mayor asked the Junior Council if they would be interested in launching an
anti-bullying campaign in Auburn. A detailed discussion about the anti-bullying
campaign will take place at the next regular meeting scheduled for June 2014.
Congressman Dave Reichert's Auburn Youth Council would like to have a friendly
soccer game against the Junior Council. This game will take place in Auburn
during the summer.
IV. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Junior City Council, the meeting
adjourned at 5:47 p.m.
