Parks, Arts & Recreation Administration Building
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 2:05 pm.
Tree board members attending were Marsha Goodwin, Brooksie Donna Hall, James Tourangeau, Chair
Bryce Landrud. Absent /excused: Jan Speer. Also present at the meeting were Parks Planning &
Development Manager Jamie Kelly, Parks Horticulturist Richard Valenti, Parks Secretary Julie Mehl.
Minutes
The July 2014 Tree Board minutes were approved unanimously.

VI. Board Recommendations /Input
The board selected the Weeping Willow located at GSA, 400 — 15th St SW as the 2014 Heritage
Tree.
The board will keep the Cherry tree on 7th SE as a future potential Heritage tree. On 4th St NE
east of Auburn High School, chair Bryce Landrud noticed an Oregon Myrtle or California Laurel
as a potential Heritage tree. It appears to have been topped 20 years ago but tree is 50' high.
Fabulous tree, one of a kind.
VII. Department Report — Jamie Kelly
The Parks Department is focusing on maintenance as summer comes to an end, as well as
gearing up for fall leaf clean up. Parks Maintenance also supported special events throughout
the month.
Parks Planning & Development Manager Jamie Kelly's projects include; permits for bridge at
Mary Olson Farm, rules signs for all parks, planning & funding for access and boat launch near
Fenster Park & 104th St SE, and updating the Parks Open Space Plan.
Upcoming events: Art Walk, September 4; Hops & Crops September 13; the Auburn
International Farmers Market each Sunday ending September 21, planting at Fenster Park
October 11.
