HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-17-2014White River Valley Historical Society Board Meeting MINUTES September 17, 2014, 1:30 to 3 p.m. Muckleshoot Room, White River Valley Museum Y\ I. Vice President Kim Perry called the meeting to order filling in for the vacationing President Cavanaugh. The minutes were unanimously approved. Vice President Perry asked for volunteers to serve on the upcoming Nominating Committee. Ronnie Beyersdorf volunteered. Others will be called by Kim to fill out the roster. For the Museology 101 segment of the meeting, Curator of Collections Hilary Pittenger presented Especially Interesting Artifacts. In the small collection of unique items were the contents of a World War II veteran's uniform pockets. The uniform was donated to the Museum and the pocket contents presented a treasure trove of tiny important items ranging from a Rosary to an artistically inscribed bullet casing. II. Treasurer Jamie Bothell presented the August Financial Statement. Although this month's finances ended in a negative number, as is typical at this time of year funds will soon be coming in for Hops & Crops Brew Festival and the Halloween Ball. The Statement was reviewed and passed unanimously. Chairperson Kim Perry reviewed progress towards the October 18 Halloween Costume Ball. If all commitments come through we should just barely make budget. So there is still room for more guests and tables to be filled. This event earns roughly 15% of our earned revenue for the year, filling an important gap in the overall operating budget. III. Staff Report Director Patricia Cosgrove presented a power point that documented the unique partnership formed in 1990 between the City of Auburn and the White River Valley Historical Society. This partnership has provided a base of stable funding, allowing the Museum to grow, become more professional and of greater service to the community. Rachael Burrum reported on the recently held Hops & Crops Brew Festival. Caretaker Gary Moberly had the livestock and farm in ship shape, the weather was perfect, and we welcomed over 750 guests. This was our first year as an over 21 event, and will set the beginning of a new trend. We earned roughly the same profit as last year, roughly $8,800. IV. The meeting was adjourned at 2:50 after interesting comments around the table. Respectfully Submitted by: Secretary Beyersdorf
