Advisory Board Meeting Minutes
Friday, May 23, 2014
Auburn City Hall Annex Room #1 - 3:00 pm
Mission Statement: The mission of the AIFM is to provide a forum for the purchase of a
variety of healthy and locally grown products to area residents, a convenient marketplace for
local farmers and artisans, and a vibrant gathering place for the community to enjoy downtown
Auburn.
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order by board member Maggie Greenslit at 3:03 pm.
Advisory Board Members present: Maggie Greenslit, Christian McLendon, Linda Morris,
Tren Walker, Ronnie Roberts. City Staff /Council present: Mayor Nancy Backus, Market
Manager Joanne Macnab, City Council member Bill Peloza and Parks Secretary Julie
Mehl.
Minutes
Board member Ronnie Roberts motions to accept the February 2014 minutes, Board
member Tren Walker seconds, all board members approve.
III. Market Manager Report— Joanne Macnab
There are 38 registered vendors to date. Posters have been distributed, bookmarks have
arrived, t- shirts have arrived, banners will be up May 27, postcards will be mailed June 4.
Auburn Wine & Caviar will sponsor opening day by handing out 200 shopping bags. $100
sponsorship was received from Coastal Farm & Ranch. Vendors have been asked to be set
up before 9:30 am opening day. We are waiting to hear from Diamond Parking regarding
parking oversize vehicles. City Staff met with Sound Transit regarding the licensing
agreement, facilities overtime, electricity, and water. Joanne has secured 8 new volunteers
by way of press release, flyers and article in the Auburn Reporter.
The board discussed current stall and application fees vs. other markets and will continue
the discussion at the October meeting.
IV. Council report — Bill Peloza
Garbage - The City is reviewing the process, until issue is resolved we will continue to use
the City's recycle and waste bins, Mayor Backus adds they are free and the distance is the
same.
The Muckleshoot Indian Tribe has submitted an application requesting to participate at the
market. City staff is reviewing.
V. Correspondence /Public Input
Board member Maggie Greenslit reports the frame for the world map are being finished for
"Where in the World are You From ?"
VI. Old Business
Future venue — Discussion on possible location change and possible expansion to more
than one day per week. Possible locations suggested were Emerald Downs or the Outlet
Collection.
The board discussed ways to get Algona and Pacific involved in the market. Mayor Hill of
Algona has asked Bill Peloza to present to Algona City Council. Participating in Algona —
Pacific days would increase awareness and perhaps solicit volunteers.
The Goal Matrix items were discussed and updated.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 4:30 pm. The next meeting
will be held October 24, 2014.
