Tuesday, December 2, 2014 Meeting Minutes
Present: Cary Davidson, Charlotte Gollnick, Jan Jensen, Dan Norman, Ronie Schwend, Donna
Smart, Greg Watson, Laura Westergard, Julie Brewer, Maija McKnight, Kelsey D'Andrade
Excused: Colleen Maloney, Feney Perez, Nancy Colson, DeNae McGee
Call to Order, Approval of Minutes, Introductions and Approval of Minutes
Vice Chair Greg Watson called the meeting to order at 5:05 pm. Dan Norman moved to
approve the November 2014 meeting minutes. Jan Jensen moved to seconded the motion.
All approved. Motion approved.
Commission Membership
Vice Chair Nominations
At the November meeting Dan Norman nominated DeNae McGee for the position of vice
chair. No other nominations were brought forward. DaNae McGee accepted the nomination
and members approved. Motion approved. DeNae McGee will serve as the Vice Chair of
the Arts Commission in 2015 and Chair in 2016.
III. Poet Laureate Nomination
Vice Chair and acting Chair Greg Watson provided an overview of the Poet Laureate
nominate, Marjorie Rommell, and read an excerpt of the recommendation letter that will be
forwarded to the Mayor. Dan Norman moved to approve the nomination of Marjorie
Rommell. Laura Westergard seconded the motion. All approved. Motion approved.
IV. Updates/ Announcments/ Upcoming Events
Red, White and Blue Holiday Concert will be held on Sunday, December 7 at the
Green River Community College, Lindbloom Student Center.
Arts Commission is on the agenda of the Monday, December 8th PCDC Agenda
(Planning and Community Development Committee). The meeting will start at 5 pm
in the City Hall Annex conference room and commissioners are encouraged to
attend.
Commissioner Watson shared that the temporary exhibition Small Works, Big
Presents: The Gift of Art was still on display at the White River Valley Museum and
noted that the exhibition Of a Feather. Artists, Birds and the Northwest opens
January 14th, 2015 at the White River Valley Museum.
There being no future business, the meeting adjourned at 5:13 pm
