CALL TO ORDER Chair Cole Lindell called the meeting to order at 5:04 p.m. in Conference Room 3 at Auburn City Hall, 25 West Main Street in Auburn. Junior City Councilmembers present: Chair Cole Lindell, Tyler Cushing, Dalton Hands, Mary Riel and Brandon Berend. Members Sydney Campbell and Angelina Zalutskiy were excused. Staff members present: Deputy Mayor Rich Wagner, Assistant Chief of Police Bill Pierson and Council Assistant Antoinette Manthey. A. Roll Call B. Announcements The Junior Council welcomed Brandon Berend, newly appointed member of the Junior Council. Member Berend was appointed to serve a two -year term. C. Agenda Modifications II. CONSENT AGENDA III. DISCUSSION ITEMS A. Review School District Incident Report for Bullying An Auburn School District Harassment, Intimidation & Bullying Incident Report Form was presented to the Junior Council. Most of the members were unaware of the form; Chair Lindell will contact Auburn School District Administration to discuss ways to inform students that the form exists, in hopes to have more bullying incidents documented. B. Review Bully -Free Zone Handout The Junior Council was presented with a handout, A Bully -Free Zone: Malls and Retailers Against Bullying. Many malls and retailers around the United States are joining this movement to spread bullying awareness. Council Assistant Antoinette Manthey will contact The Outlet Collection in Auburn to see if they would be interested in the movement. C. Red Light Photo Enforcement (Pierson) CA.A Page 1 of 2 Page 2 of 3 Discuss photo enforcement of red light running at intersections and of speeding in school zones. Assistant Chief of Police Bill Pierson distributed handouts to the Junior Council showing statistics of Red Light Photo Enforcement at various intersections and school zones in Auburn. He gave statistics about the types of accidents that occur at certain intersections and he explained the technology of how the red light cameras operate. A discussion took place about whether or not the red light cameras should be used in Auburn. The majority of the Junior Council believe photo enforcement reduce accidents and promote safety, therefore, should be continued to be used in Auburn IV.
