HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-17-2014V1" White River Valley Historical Society1 Board Meeting MINUTES aaa \,V\ December 17, 2014 Muckleshoot Room, White River Valley Museum I. President Pat Cavanaugh called the meeting to order. After a brief review of the calendar of events, Pat asked each member present to share one memory of a Museum or Farm event from the past year. It made for an enjoyable review. Pat then shared some of his thoughts about the Museum during his term as President. He commented about the complexity of the cogs that make this institution work, including the Board, volunteers, staff, City of Auburn and a great deal of coordination. Pat talked about the annual letter and stated that it has brought in $13,000 in donations so far this year! Patricia commented that Pat wrote an article in the letter about his pioneer family who settled in the Auburn area and how they farmed, worked and opened their business here over 130 years ago. That letter has drawn an all time high donation. Pat also noted that the Alpine exhibit and the Shoe exhibit received the media coverage and were very successful in 2014. II. Committees Treasurer Jamie Bothell was called away for a work appointment, so Director Patricia Cosgrove presented the November Financial Statement. With good earnings from the Annual Fund drive and reduced expenditures, we should end the year with a small surplus. III. Staff members gave short power point presentations on their area of work, summarizing events of 2014 and previewing those for 2015. IV. As is always the case, at the end of the calendar year some board members come to the end of their term and retire off the board. This year Gerry Honeysett and Rhonda Larson rotated off the board. Historic photographs in commemorative frames were selected reflecting each person's interests. They were passed around for all to see and since neither were in attendance, will be mailed with a thank you note to the retirees. Several board members will end their first term and were asked to serve a second. Those include: Bill Greene 2nd term City of Auburn, Joan Mason 2nd term City of Auburn, Ronnie Beyersdorf 2nd term City of Auburn and Mike Weibel 2nd term Historical Society. The committee further recommended two new board members: Dave Larberg and Ruby Elwood both filling Historical Society vacancies. One opening remains and it is hoped that Mayor Backus will recommend a person, perhaps from the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe, to fill it. A motion was made by Ronnie Beyersdorf to accept this slate of board members, which was seconded by Mike Weibel. The motion passed unanimously. The Nominating Committee recommended as officers for 2015: President, Kim Perry; Vice President, Mike Weibel; Secretary, Ronnie Beyersdorf; and Treasurer, Jamie Bothell. The immediate Past President will be Pat Cavanaugh. President Pat asked for a motion to be made to accept this slate of officers as presented by the Nominating Committee. Kim Perry made the motion seconded by Bill Greene. Motion passed unanimously. V. The meeting was adjourned at 2:45 and the gavel will be passed to Kim at the first meeting of the year, January 14.
