" MINUTES
I. CALL TO ORDER
A. Roll Call
Chair Wagner called the Gouncil Operations Committee meeting to
order at 2:00 p.m., in Room 3 at Auburn City Hall, 25 West Main
Street in Auburn.
Members in attendance included Chair Rich Wagner and Vice
Chair Bill Peloza.
Member Largo Wales as absent.
Also in attendance were Mayor Nancy Backus, Attorney Daniel B.
Heid, Community Development and Public Works Director Kevin
Snyder, City Clerk Dani Daskam and Deputy City Clerk Shawn
Campbell.
B. Announcements
There was no announcement.
C. Agenda Modifications
There was no agenda modification.
II. CONSENT AGENDA
A. October 27, 2014 Meeting Mlnutes
Vice Chair Peloza moved and Chair Wagner seconded to approve
the October 27, 2014 meeting minutes.
The Committee discussed the timing of the Study Sessions and fhe
Council Meetings.
MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY. 2-0
III. DISCUSSION ITEMS
A. Planning for Transition to Study Sessions

The Committee discussed the need to elect a Deputy Mayor for
2015. The Committee discussed the process of electing a Deputy
Mayor. City Attorney Heid provided, the Committee with a proposed
process for the Deputy Mayor elections. The Gommittee requested
the new language be added to the Council Rules of Procedure.
The Committee asked for the amended Council Rules of Procedure
to be brought before the full Council at the December 1 , 2014 City
Council meeting.
B. Independent Salary Commission Schedule
Mayor Backus stafed the Independent Salary Commission is
required to meet within 30 days of their appointment and by the end
of 2014. The Commission is on track to meet both of the
requirements.
City Attomey Heid noted the Commission could make
a recommendation within the first 60 days of their appointment.
Chair Wagner confirmed the Commission is prepared to meet and
move forward.
Vice Chair Peloza asked who organizes the Commission meetings.
Mayor Backus stated the Human Resources Director and the Mayor
organize the meetings for the Independent Salary Commission.
IV. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 2:47 p.m.
