where it's funding comes from. H2 noted that this Museum has been very effective atgetting

leader among the comparable organizations and isa great example Of what others should
emulate—especially in the arena of city funding and public service. Eric stressed that it is
important for individual board members have good attendance and to be at all the meetings and
engaged in the institution's activities.

set the stage for discussions on the future of this institution and how it can best be of service.
South King County is rapidly changing, with growing numbers of young families, living at |ovv
income or poverty, with a high percentage of immigrants speaking many languages. The next few
years this institution needs to reach out to our new neighbors and find ways to be relevant.

Ui Director of Parks, Arts and Recreation, Daryl Faber joined the meeting to discuss the
rough plans that exist for further development of the Les Gove Community Les Gove Community
Campus. Asvv8 know there have been increasing issues in the park involving the homeless and
gang activity. A series of community meetings have begun to work on this issue in partnership
with AYR, the Auburn Police Department, and Parks Department and of course the neighborhood
residents.
Board members were provided a map showing planned park development and expansion, The
main office for the Parks Administration will be moving into the old Herr Lumber building next to
the King County Library while construction of the new Les Gove Community Campus Center
building gets started later this year. Discussions are underway to improve security, lighting and
pathways.
One challenge for this Museum is that its entry faces north, while all park activity is to the east.
Board members are interested in speaking with architect Alan Keimig to see what designs can be
put in place to better integrate the Museum into the park and cause it to appear more
welcoming. With some plans in hand we may be able to go to the Capital Heritage Fund in 2016
for building support.
