CALL TO ORDER Chair Cole Lindell called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. in Conference Room 3 at Auburn City Hall, 25 West Main Street in Auburn. Junior City Councilmembers present: Chair Cole Lindell, Brandon Berend, Tyler Cushing, Dalton Hands and Mary Riel. Sydney Campbell and Angelina Zalutskiy were excused. Staff members present: Deputy Mayor John Holman, Assistant City Attorney Doug Ruth, Public Affairs & Marketing Manager Dana Hinman and Council Assistant Antoinette Manthey. A. RoII CaII B. Announcements There were no announcements. C. Agenda Modifications A discussion item was added to the agenda: B. Junior Council Attendance at National League of Cities II. CONSENT AGENDA A. February 24, 2015 Meeting Minutes Junior Council to approve the February 24, 2015 meeting minutes. Motion by Member Cushing to approve the February 24, 2015 meeting minutes, seconded by Member Hands. Motion carried unanimously. 5 -0. III. DISCUSSION ITEMS A. Junior Council Twitter Account (Dana Hinman) Public Affairs & Marketing Manger Dana Hinman shared that the city has had social network accounts since 2009 and currently has ten Facebook accounts including Mayor Backus, Auburn Police Department, Parks and Recreation Department and White River Valley Museum. Hinman also shared that the city has Twitter and YouTube accounts as well. Once the Junior Council Twitter account is created, she will add it to the city's social media dashboard. Dana Page 1 of 3 CA.A Page 2 of 4 Hinman reminded the Junior Council that this will be an official government account and to be aware that all material on the account is public. Chair Lindell clarified that the purpose of the Twitter account will be to promote their anti - bullying campaign and to update the public on their progress. Hinman asked the Junior Council to create a Twitter handle and hashtags to bring to the next meeting. Since the Junior Council's official launch of their anti - bullying campaign will take place at Auburn's birthday party in June, Dana Hinman suggested that the Junior Council do smaller activities beforehand. An idea that was shared was to transfer the Junior Council page that is currently on the city website to the Twitter account. The Junior Council would also like collect signature pledges from students in the Auburn School District and make a large paper chain to present at the City's birthday party. Auburn KidsDay, which also takes place in June, is another opportunity for the Junior Council to display their paper chain. Dana Hinman offered to have the Junior Council featured in the June issue of the Auburn magazine to promote their campaign. B. Junior Council Attendance at National League of Cities Deputy Mayor John Holman explained that the City Council attends the National League of Cities (NLC) Conference once a year in Washington D.C. Other cities that attend the conference often bring members from their Junior Council. Deputy Mayor Holman asked if there would be interest in attending National League of Cities next year. The Junior Council will discuss funding of the trip and chaperones as the next NLC Conference nears. IV.
