Minutes
Tuesday, March 3, 2015

Auburn Senior Activity Center, Rotary Room
I. Call to Order
Members present were Chair Michael Hassen and Vicki Gilthvedt. Excused members Richard Artura, and
Greg Dobbs. Unexcused members Joe Bauman and David Domenowske . Department staff present were
Parks Director Daryl Faber, Parks Planning & Development Manager Jamie Kelly and Parks Secretary Julie
Mehl.

The January and February minutes are not approved as there was no quorum.

VII. Department Report
Director Faber reports the community center will consist of 13,700 sf of new construction and 7,400 sf of
renovation. The bid process will begin during summer and we hope to start construction in October. It
should take 9 months to bid and we hope to be complete by late June. The Parks Department employees
will move to the old Herr building during construction. Many details were discussed included a fitness
room, art room, game room, stage, kitchen area and large rentable space accommodating 240 people.
Director Faber reports a fund raising effort is in effect for a new Spray Park to be built in the Lakeland
Hills community. The Lions Club and the City of Auburn are working together to raise funds via
www.Gofundme.com for the project. If the funds are raised, the construction should start next spring.
Parks Planning & Development Manager Jamie Kelly reports the Auburn Golf Course restaurant "Bogey's
Public House" will be open to the public on March 23.
Jamie Kelly reports the firm of Bob Droll Architects are working on the master plan for the 104`" St
property and Green River access at Fenster Park.
Upcoming events include: Arbor Day Tree Planting - April 16, Clean Sweep - April 25, Fishing Derby -
May 2, Petpalooza - May 16, Kids Day - June 19.
