Correspondence /Public Input Old Business VI. New Business VII. Department Report (Faber) Director Faber welcomes new Park Board Member Joe Bauman. Joe is a Designated Broker for John L. Scott and Head of the Men's Club at the Auburn Golf Course. He's been helping with marketing and bringing in younger members. Cirque Ziva, Chinese Acrobats — Nearly 1000 tickets were sold and it was a great show. We have had a lot of positive feedback. Les Gove Community Center — We are working with Police and Planning on improving the campus over the next year to year and a half making this park safer, following the law, keeping it a public space. We have existing cameras at the climbing wall and patio, the PRAB patio, the playground and spray park. Footage can be viewed 24 / 7 at the PD or Daryl's desk. We have caught some teens trying to steal the existing cameras. They have gone through the courts and will pay restitution. The existing restrooms at Les Gove are very old, we may convert the Les Gove Multi- Purpose Building to new restrooms. We would like to add new pedestrian walkway lighting, create a crescent of lights along the walk -way connecting all buildings, so it would be more of a campus. We also need to update the current lights as they are quite old, 40 - 50 years. Signage - We will post new signs with rules in international symbols so police can enforce. Landscaping - All landscaping will be trimmed to 8' to increase visibility. We will pull the rhododendrons and plant ground cover to alleviate homeless folks camping out. Les Gove Pedestrian Safety - Instead of closing Deal's Way in the summer months for the safety of children, we will add one more set of speed bumps, re -paint lines on all speed bumps, and add a new bump /crosswalk in front of the spray park. We will also add a 4' cyclone fence opening routing folks on to the pedestrian crosswalk directly to the spray park. We will post "Children at Play" signage and "slow" signage. Trying to do as much as we can to keep it safe without closing Deal's Way. City Ordinance which shows fees & schedules. Reviewing fees, let's say the Auburn Food Bank would like to use the Auburn Ave Theater and according to the'fees & schedules' we are supposed to charge them. We are going to change the language in the ordinance so we can waive fees for certain entities. Same with Auburn Little League, they like to use our building for meetings and those are good things, the public pays for the buildings, let them use it. Second option we could waive fees for groups. Programmers are conditioned to cost + 25 %, but Daryl would rather run like a business. Golf course and cemetery have different codes. If Zumba is making money let's offer this class for kids for free. The Auburn Golf Course restaurant lease is up December 31, 2014, a Request for Proposals will go out soon. Joe adds that it's been a challenge, but things are getting better. Rental groups will be clear on who to deal with in the future, to be fair to both sides. We should be having corporate events and weddings at Copper Falls. Vicki adds that it's nice to have a nice restaurant to take out of town guests to. VIII. Adjournment A. The meeting was adjourned at 6:00 pm. Approved this Day of 2014 Michael Hassen, Chair Daryl Faber, Director AUBURN, MORE THAN YOU IMAGINED
