Tuesday, October 7, 2014
5:30 p.m.
Auburn Senior Activity Center, Rotary Room
Call to Order
The meeting began at 5:30.
Members present were Board Chair Michael Hassen, Board Members Vicki Gilthvedt. Excused members
were Richard Artura and Greg Dobbs. Unexcused members Joe Bauman and David Domenowske.
Department staff present were Parks Director Daryl Faber, Parks Planning & Development Manager Jamie
Kelly and Parks Secretary Julie Mehl.
II. Minutes
The July 2014 minutes were not approved as there was no quorum.
III. Committee Member Input
The board discussed the spray park planned for Sunset Park to be donated by The Auburn Lions Club.

VII. Department Report (Faber, Kelly)
The Teen Center has been approved by City Council, we have taken a survey from the teen population
for their wants / needs.
Grant request in process for cardio pieces at Les Gove Park (youth), and Sunset Park (adult). The
artificial turf at Discovery Playground is being replaced.
The river set back planting project at Fenster Park is October 11. The purpose is to create more space
for salmon to spawn by making the river wider and slower. The project will also lower the flood level
risk. There is a possibility of having a water access entry point at Fenster and a take out area near the
Auburn Golf Course.
Open Space Plan — Parks Planning & Development Manager Jamie Kelly is updating the Open Space Plan
(long term plans), Parks inventory and an addressing issue.
Upcoming Event — Veteran's Day Parade on November 8.
