Minutes
Tuesday, August 4, 2015

I. Call to Order
The Urban Tree Board met at Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation at 2:00 pm.
Tree board members attending were Chair Bryce Landrud, Members: Marsha Goodwin, Jan Speer. Not
present /excused Brooksie Donna Hall, James Tourangeau. Also present at the meeting were Parks
Planning & Development Manager Jamie Kelly, Parks Horticulturist Richard Valenti and Parks Secretary
Julie Mehl.
11. Minutes
The board reviewed minutes from July, approved with following change: Jan Speer was excused in July.
111. Correspondence /Public Input
Chair Bryce Landrud shared a comment from his contact at the Department of Natural Resources that
Jamie Kelly's tree inventory grant was "one of the best they've ever seen ". Bryce suggests we let DNR
know the results of how we use the tree inventory data.

VI. Board Recommendations /Input
The board discussed the potential tree planting on G St SE, selection would have to grow no higher than
20' due to power lines. Give residents a few to choose from, have a pledge form to sign agreeing to
water for the first year. Will knock on doors at September meeting.
VII. Department Report
Horticulturist Richard Valenti evaluated 37 trees on Skyway Lane, they will need to come down due to
infrastructure issues. They have been topped in the past and their roots had been cut while re -doing
sidewalks. The Tree Board agrees they must be removed and suggest Richard make a selection for
replacement trees.
