Call to Order
The Urban Tree Board met at Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation at 2:00 pm.
Tree board members attending were: Brooksie Donna Hall, James Tourangeau. Not present /excused
Marsha Goodwin, Jan Speer and Chair Bryce Landrud. Also present at the meeting were Parks Planning
& Development Manager Jamie Kelly, Parks Horticulturist Richard Valenti, Parks Secretary Julie Mehl,
Community Services Assistant Emily Pearson. Guests: Bruce Alverson and Cal Bashaw.
Minutes
The board did not review /approve August minutes as there was no quorum.
III. Correspondence /Public Input
Citizen /Business owners Bruce Alverson and Cal Bashaw attended and asked for support in saving an oak
tree near the Sunbreak Cafe which is scheduled to be removed by the developer of an upcoming project.
Parks Planning & Development Manager Jamie Kelly will contact Development Services and Urban Tree
Board chair Bryce Landrud to see what we can do to help preserve this tree.
IV. Old Business
Community Services Assistant Emily Pearson attended to learn about the neighborhood tree grant in
process for G St SE. The Urban Tree Board will contact citizens on G St SE to see if they are willing to
care for the trees for the first year after planting. Chair Bryce Landrud and Horticulturist Richard Valenti
to select species. Emily states the grant program will reimburse for the purchase of the trees.
